We were lucky to catch up with Danielle Baselice-King recently and have shared our conversation below.

Danielle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?

Honestly, I’ll never regret my experience and hardwork that was put into creating my small business and learning this craft and art. You see these posts that say something along the lines of “I didn’t want to work a 9-5 job, so now I work 24/7!” It’s absolutely true. It takes absolute commitment and passion. Trying to manage consistency as a mom of very young children, a business owner and a wife isn’t a piece of cake. Trying to get your name and brand out there doesn’t come easy. But when you get even just ONE customer who shares their story of how much your products have helped them.. it really flips a switch sometimes in the best possible way. It’s the best feeling in this line of work, and I’ll never wish differently. I’ve realized if I’m not doing what I love as a career, I’ll always be missing something.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Danielle, and I’m a Soap Maker. I started off making what’s called “Melt & Pour Soap” until I really wanted to make the all natural stuff from scratch. Combining natural butters and plant oils to make this amazing art that cleanses your body and protects your skin in such a healthy way. I always had a passion for all natural remedies growing up, and learning about the benefits of what the earth already provides for us. When I was pregnant with my first born, finding the right things for my skin was such a journey… and nothing store bought could do it for me. So I started creating more and more skincare products to fill in all of those gaps I was missing (body lotions, facial creams, facial/feminine soaps). It took me a couple years of studying and research to create the formulas I have today. It’s a perfect science! I’m definitely proud of how far I’ve came, and proud that I could change the way so many people view their skin and body.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

I got lucky here, I gotta say. I can’t see of a way I could have done ANY of this without the financial, emotional and physical help of my amazing Husband. He invested so much time and money into helping me create this business, and still to this day helps me during harder times of the business. I will forever thank him for everything he has done to give me my dream and make it possible.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

There are sooo many times, I can’t even count where I want to give up… where I just cry and feel stuck thinking back and forth “if I work really hard, I’ll grow my business but I’ll be neglecting my children and my family.” Then.. “if I pay all of my attention to my children and my family and everything besides work, I’ll be missing my passion and what makes me an individual”. And now, I’m starting school in just a month to become an Esthetician. On top of Physical therapy weekly, Migraines and more… but I keep going and I keep trying. I know if I don’t put all I have into what I have, I’ll regret it forever. It’s so hard.. but I love my life.
