We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Danielle Barbee a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
If I could go back in time, I wish I would have started my business sooner. I started my business in January of 2020 and during that time I was working for the school district. While working for the school, I enjoyed being on the same schedule as my child, as well as, the school breaks, weekends, and holidays off. However, I felt like there was more in life I desired. Career-wise I started working in healthcare and always wanted to branch off into holistic medicine, but life has its way of steering. Starting my business sooner would have pointed me in the direction I seek, while providing natural products and information to those who are interested. I have gained a lot of experience in healthcare, which shapes my life, my decisions, and my passion for caring for others. Looking back, I started just in the right time.

Danielle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Danielle Barbee. 35 yrs old, and a mother to an amazing son. I got into this industry of making my own natural products from my experiences working in healthcare. Witnessing so many different things, from many people, from different walks of life and backgrounds has inspired me to create products that are beneficial to our overall health. I provide skin care products with the hope to spread into other areas of holistic health. I have came across clients that had issues from dry skin, acne, skin conditions, and rashes; as well as preventing skin irritation. My products offer nourishment, balance, and moisture to skin. It also has many other benefits one may see.
In my personal opinion what sets me apart from others is I am approachable, I take into consideration my clients needs and wants above mine, I create products to suite my clients request, and I am versatile.
What I am most proud of is taking a risk and stepping outside of my comfort zone to do what I love.
Building my brand comes from a place of passion, healing, and nature. What is more important to me than profiting from my products is making sure my customers are satisfied, received what they ordered, and is beneficial for them.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was not every action deserves a reaction. I remember working at a particular place. When a manager instructed me to do a task that would have jeopardized my position and potentially the customer. At that moment I began to inform the manager, her requested task was against company policy, and the potential risk to the client. This situation did not go over well. Eventually the main supervisor got involved. After speaking with the main supervisor. I learned that although, I was correct, my delivery was wrong and not every action deserves a reaction.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I like to keep in touch with my clients via email or communication via my website. I also have the option for customers to speak with me directly. My plan in the near future is to create a line of communication with set hours for clients to reach out. I believe being personable fosters brand loyalty, and of course, a great product!
