We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Anderson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.
Alright, Danielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
Having a career within the entertainment industry, there is never a day by day routine or schedule. Now, having that same career while having a chronic illness such as Crohn’s disease definitely adds to the roller coaster of the day. Most of my flareups are triggered, not only by my diet, but also stress, whether it is good or bad. And when it comes to filming days or photo shoot/runway times, those are never an exception to the rule. There have been times that I have missed call times or have had to rush out on stage due to a flareup; though during the time that it occurs, and I feel less than worthy, I’m almost instantaneously reminded that this is one of the reasons why I am a creative. Life is about unpredictability and being a creative whether it’s full-time or part-time, it’s a reminder that all we have to do is adjust and move with the times instead of against the grain. Being a Crohn’s warrior and new mom has made me understand my mind, body, and soul on a deeper level, being able to relearn myself has helped me relearn my craft as well. Even when you feel that you have mastered your craft or even have become the teacher, never stop being the student. Things that are out of our control will happen and the things that we can control might not even be an option; so it’s always best to be prepared for the unpredictability that your creativity and life may bring you. Because this path was paved for you, so walk with your head high and your shoulders back especially when you’re walking into the unknown.

Danielle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well, I have been a thespian for about 15 years and a model for almost 10. When I’m lot modeling or acting, I’m creating directing for a group called Culture Creative located in the Saint Petersburg area geared towards Black and Brown creatives and growth with our community. I have a podcast that I will soon put out called Dose of Danie where we talk about the “untouchable” topics of the Black community.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience by being my lost authentic self. When it comes to my projects, I make sure that my voice and story is being heard and portrayed in each picture and story I tell. I would honestly tell anyone who is starting their journey is to have a plan but most of all be yourself there’s no reason to copy any of anyone else’s work because people want to see the real you.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson that I had to unlearn was thinking that I have to do everything myself. With community I found that it’s not only easier to complete projects, but it also feels more fluid and manageable. Before I really took acting seriously I used to always do monologues and wasn’t a fan of group or dialogue scenes. However, it was a two person scene that was the highlight of my high school career and took us to nationals. So, I forever cherish the work of a group and other people who are just as passionate as you are because that makes the project much more magical.
