We were lucky to catch up with Danielle Anatra recently and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
As a business owner, I take risks all the time. In my opinion, it’s how you upscale your business. Those leaps of faith are the difference between staying where you are or upleveling your life. I always make decisions and take chances based off my gut. I feel into whatever it is and take action on what feels most aligned.
The first risk I ever took as a business owner was actually making the decision to BECOME a business owner. I had a 9-5 job that was considered “secure”. I had a pension, a 401K, medical, dental……a dream, right? People would tell me how lucky I was to have this job that I just tried my hardest to make the best of everyday. I always felt gratitude for the perks that came along with this job, but I felt like life was passing me by. I was bored, something was missing and I wasn’t doing anything that I felt changed lives or bettered my life.
After feeling for so long that I wanted more out of life, I finally made the decision to go out and create more for myself. After a lot of hesitation, thought and back and fourth in my mind, I decided to stop being someone’s employee and to become my own boss. This was a huge decision for myself and my family because we were a two income household, hardly even bringing in what was needed. Between myself and my husband, we were barely making ends meet. We had 2 children and taking a risk like this seemed like not the best idea………but we are both dreamers and believed in each other.
Shortly before I took this risk, a health scare in my family made us realize that life was too short to not do the things that you love and are being called to. This challenge showed us that we need to believe in ourselves and go after our dreams. That being said, I jumped without a safety net. I gave up that guaranteed paycheck each week and took a chance on myself. It was the greatest decision of my entire life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The work I do is unique. It’s not a business you hear about everyday and how I got started is a common question that I very often get asked. My name is Danielle Anatra, I’m a medium and a mentor. My business started as one thing and grew into so much more. I was unknowingly doing this work my entire life. When I turned 27, trauma within my family brought my gifts out in a way they couldn’t be ignored. I’ve been in business for 11 years now and I’ve learned more about myself than you could ever imagine. Over the years I grew as a medium, but also as a person. This work helped me become more confident in who I was, I learned to be kind to myself, I learned to let go of what no longer served me and helped myself move forward. I changed my life. That’s why I stepped into mentoring. I help people tap into their purpose so that they can live the life they only dreamed about. I mentor in psychic/mediumship development, mindset and business. I help people start or grow their spiritual businesses so that they can feel that same freedom I feel being my own boss. The world needs goodness and I love helping people grow through readings, mindset and helping them live their purpose through their business.
I can’t explain how my clients find me……they just do. Yes, I have a website, Yes, I have social media accounts, but I mainly get my business through referral. I could also bump into someone while I’m getting a haircut and book a session right there. My clients and I just find each other in places you would never think to look. Opportunities are all around us. Things will come up in casual conversation. It just happens. You find the right people when you’re just being authentic to yourself. They come out of no where. It’s amazing how magical this world is when you decide to see it.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
A few years ago I was getting extremely busy with business and found myself spending too much time on the things that didn’t light me up. I was talking to a friend and she gave me the name one of her assistants. I spoke with, and hired her to help me maintain my website, scheduling, graphics, etc. Her and I became great friends. She got very into spirituality and manifesting. She was like a sponge and wanted to know everything. I loved the knowledge and ideas she had. It was like she was the left brain and I was the right. we were always aligned with how we worked so we decided to come together and do a few projects together that were super successful. Now, we’re hosting 3 retreats together this year around manifesting your dream life. We will be on Long Island in New York in April, Miami, Florida in August and Nosara, Costa Rica in October.
I love to collaborate with like minded people. There’s always something more to learn.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I’ve never tried to be someone I’m not. I’ve always stayed authentic to who I am and what I believe in. That’s what I feel helped me build my reputation in business and in life. In my world, authenticity is key to EVERYTHING! It’s important to lift people up and understand that we all walk together here, side by side. Helping guide others, but always allowing them to guide you as well. Following your moral compass and leaving behind that EGO is important.
