Hi Daniela, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I moved to NYC in 2012 when I married Jose. NY life has a very fast paced and I started gaining a lot of weight eating what was available at the moment . No time to cook, shopping always on the run. When I had time I wanted to rest or spend quality time with my family. As well if i ever purchased food sometimes it went to waste because I didn’t cook it.
As well I became a mom and in total I gained over 80 lbs in the course of 3 years. In that moment i was working for an event planning company. In 2016, we bought a supplement store next a gym and Jose and I we knew we needed to offer food that was fresh, affordable and healthy. That is how we came up with the idea of Healthyholic. We created a menu that made me loose 85 lbs in 7 months and we without sacrificing taste, which was very important for us. We tried many companies in the market and most of them who cater weight loss or healthy lifestyle are mostly bland in flavor. However we found the sweet spot where we could still offer macro balanced meals without sacrificing a good taste. I am very passionate about this business because food is one of the things you need everyday… but your health is the most important thing to take care of. So we offer healthy meals for busy people. In 2021 we went a step forward offering vacuum sealed meals that helped us extend the life of the meals just by taking the oxygen off the packaging. That means that our customers are saving time by being able to stock several meals at once and money since they don’t need to throw away their meals after 4 days like it happens with other companies.
Other thing that make us different is that customers have the ability to go into our stores and purchase their meal prep as if it were a supermarket rather than waiting on the shipping. However they also have the ability to order online if they decide so.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are a latino family owner business that was built out with our means. We have grown slowly but we have used our own capital.
We are proud to say that we are customer oriented and our reviews can show it. Customers experienced very good customer service and a very different kind pf shopping since we offer a one stop shop for all your health needs, when you come in to our stores you will find the food, vitamins and sports supplements and most importantly very friendly and well trained team members that know exactly what you need .

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
When we first started offering meals people started to come over because they loved our Home Made Chipotle Aioli. As well we have always used quality products and healthier swaps (eg brown rice, avocado oil, low carb wraps, cauliflower rice) people from the Bronx area started to like that. We started growing because of word of mouth which we believe is a very powerful tool! Because people trust their friends. And that is what have made us grown. He have tried TV ads, influencers, and different media but where we see the biggest long term return and where customers actually come back once and again is always by recommendation. Obviously to achieve this you need a mix of good products, good team members= good experience.
We get to know our customers their likes and dislikes therefore we create a sort of friendship. We try to know them by name even if we have a database of almost 10,000 ppl. If we don’t know the name. We greet them as soon as they come in. Customers should always feel welcome and appreciated.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We use a rewards program. Customers get money back on every purchase they can build up their money and spend back in store.
This reward program allow me to get their number and email which I use to send monthly specials and text messages that generate me sales .
As well i provide useful information on the newsletter so get a high opening rate and it is a way to stay in their mind.
