We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Daniela Conroy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Daniela thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Owning your own business is as great AND as hard as everyone thinks it is. You’re accountable to only yourself. Every success and every failure falls directly on your shoulders and alters your perception of your investment and ability.
When you’re successful, it’s expected. It’s easy to forget all of the hours and all of the hard work you’ve put in to get there.
When you’re failing, you so clearly see all the hours and work you’ve put in, but without results it’s hard to push past the feeling of being an imposter in your field.
As a business owner, you’re constantly ping ponging between these different magnitudes of success and failure, and you have to make a conscience effort to separate them from yourself. It forces you to learn who you are, what you can take, and what you’re made of. It’s truly one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.
But it’s something I wouldn’t trade for the world. I love what I do. I love that I get to make every decision in my life and make the most of these years while I still have them. I love that every day is a challenge and that I have a purpose to wake up to and work for.

Daniela, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Daniela Conroy, and I am a Georgia Wedding Photographer. I capture bright, true-to-color images of timeless moments for couples leading up to and during their wedding day. I’m there to celebrate my couples, ensure they feel prepared every step of the way, and create a space for them to enjoy their big moments with the confidence that everything is being beautifully captured.
What sets me apart from other wedding photographers is how much I care about and value the impact of what I do. I truly understand the value of the photos I take because sometimes all you have left of people are the photos of them. It’s such a privilege to be entrusted with capturing moments you’ll only ever experience once.
I’ve been walking around with a camera, taking photos for almost 8 years. The idea of having my own photography business came to fruition midway through 2023 when I decided to fully embrace this passion of mine. I took on any and all photography opportunities that came my way, but after capturing the magic of my first proposal, I knew couples photography was exactly what I wanted to do.
I love working with and photographing couples because I’m there to capture the beauty of an existing connection and showcase a love story all the way to one of the biggest days of their lives: their wedding. I love shooting weddings because it blends my love of different types of photography into one big day for one amazing couple, and it allows me to truly invest in a couple over the course of months through engagement sessions, prep meetings, timeline assistance, and more.
I’m currently booking weddings for 2024-2025. You can get in touch through:

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The role of a photographer is profoundly meaningful and powerful. As life constantly changes, I have the privilege of immortalizing meaningful moments, celebrating the beauty of individuals, and capturing intimate connections between people and themselves, their families, friends, and significant others. For me, the most rewarding aspect is revealing the inherent beauty of a moment in time, creating images that endure as timeless reflections of cherished memories. It’s such an honor to be entrusted with this responsibility, and it is incredibly rewarding to hear my clients’ reactions to the photos I capture.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Since starting my business, I’ve joined various communities of photographers and business owners. These networks have been invaluable, providing support through the challenges of entrepreneurship and generating referrals for clients with diverse photography needs. With each gallery I deliver, I receive more referrals from happy clients who want their friends, colleagues, and family to experience what it’s like working with me. I believe the key to sustained business growth lies in consistently delivering exceptional service and care to your existing clients.
