We were lucky to catch up with Daniel Zivetz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Daniel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
I started my computer support carrer at a local computer training school where we studied Windows and prepared to take the Microsoft certification exams. I was attending for a few years and the owner of the school noticed that I was a good student and had a good feel for computers and networkng. So he referred me to one of his personal friends who needed computer support
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started with computers over 20 years ago. My parents gifted me with a Dell desktop. I began to get curious about how it worked and what to do when things went wrong. I found a local computer shop called Century Software. The owner was kind enough to allow me to observe the teamwork on my system. I asked a lot of questions and continued to learn. I became so interested in PCs that I signed up for a computer training school locally. School was quite intense. Five days a week for years. We studied and prepared to pass the CompTIA A+ exam and all the Microsoft exams. This experience gave me the knowledge and confidence to take up my career in PC and network support. Pretty soon, the CEO of the school was sending me out on small jobs for his friends.
From there, after earning the Microsoft certificates, I began to build and advertise the business. I was staying quite busy troubleshooting and diagnosing computer systems and networks to earn a living. I decided to grow my skills by attending classes at Santa Monica College. I took almost all of the computer programming courses, plus all the web design classes. I earned the Website Creator and Website Software Specialist certificates at SMC. Currently, I genuinely enjoy building and maintaining sites for some of my clients. I also recently completed the AWS curriculum at SMC. Something I might pursue further in the future.
I am a certified PC and network support specialist. I upgrade, troubleshoot and maintain PCs and small networks for my clients on the Westside. I have a reputation for being honest and resourceful. I treat all of my clients with respect and humility. I take great pleasure in resolving even the most difficult scenario for my clients. I build on the relationships with exceptional service and integrity.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I took a class at Santa Monica College on Social Media Marketing where we learned how to start a compaign in Social Media and how to leverage it. I already had a Facebook personal and business page where I posted occasionally. I also had an Instagram page and a Twitter account. From the class I learned how to grow my Social Media presence. Since then I have built up my profiles , expecially my YouTube channel. I now actively post using either Adobe Express or an AI software called Predis.ai. The software aids in creating relavant and well designed posts and posting them to all my different accounts at once. I am very focused on my YouTube channel where I recently got Monitized. I produce a video for the channel almost every day now and hope to expand my subscribers and gain more view time.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
During Covid my on site business slowed down quite a bit. I posted on Social Media that I was doing remote calls for service which worked out well. I had many clients who didn’t want to risk catching the virus from an in person visit and chose to go with the remote session. I was able to assits these clients successfully and over time many of these people felt safer about letting my into their homes and businesses.
