We recently connected with Daniel Tribby and have shared our conversation below.
Daniel, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Growing up I was generally a very healthy kid. Aside from the occasional bump, bruise or scrape, I really didn’t get sick. A lot of that changed when I went to college. After an overnight hospital stay due to an undercooked chicken sandwich, I found myself coming down with one illness after another and as a result, one doctor visit after another.
I was already deep into my education in health sciences and planned on graduating with a degree in kinesiology and athletic training, so I was already familiar with the healthcare landscape. What I wasn’t familiar with was the lack of individualized personal care that came with these appointments. I felt like many patients still feel today – a package on a conveyer belt just being pushed down the line with minimal regard for me as a human being with real feelings and thoughts.
Other than having these recurring episodes of spikes in blood pressure, bacterial infections and gut issues that caused extreme pain and nausea, I was an active guy. I played sports, I worked out, I was a 6’2″/190 lbs, fit twenty something, so you can imagine my shock when I had a seeing my primary care doctor at one of my follow ups and he suggested the root cause of all my problems may be that I needed to loose a little weight.
I’m sure you can guess how that conversation ended.
Although I left there with a fait amount of disgust and anger, what hadn’t hit me yet was the fact I would be put directly in the same spot that my primary care doctor was in. I would come to understand why he said what he said to me.
I worked for physician owned physical therapy office, which for those of you who aren’t familiar with the healthcare industry, is an office that combines orthopedics and physical under the same roof. Quickly, I realized that my doctor from a few years back was caught in a loop of quantity of quality of care.
Working in physical rehabilitation I was often treating 3, 4 or even 5 people at a time. This inevitably pushes you into a very systematic way of operating with people which sacrifices quality. The more I worked and the more productive I was the more I was asked to do while yearly bonuses were based on customer satisfaction surveys. I often found myself wondering if this was what life was really all about — school, work, hope you love it, get married, buy a house.
Fast forward to opening my own center that specialized in the breakthrough of regenerative medicine and 1 on 1 physical therapy. Patients deserved to be treated with something better than surgeries, medications and over booked PT offices. Our business excelled and to this day (6 years later) we average 4.9 stars out of 5 and our patients report 90% improvements in their symptoms and ability to return to doing the things they love. All without the use of chemicals and surgeries.
I’ve transitioned this knowledge I’ve gained from working in healthcare for 20 years to becoming a business mentor for healthcare entrepreneurs who wish to do it better. Like I did. My ultimate mission is to improve the quality of compassion and care patients receive from the healthcare industry. The way I deliver on that is by teaching and mentoring entreprenuers in the healthcare space how to do that successfully.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am healthcare provider, award winning author, speaker and business mentor.
I have dedicated my career to improving the way healthcare entrepreneurs operate their business. I have developed keynotes, coaching and a book that feature surprisingly simple tips that can be implemented immediately to improve business growth in the healthcare industry. When I opened my first healthcare practice, I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I. knew how to be a healthcare provider because that is what I was taught, but running a business around that skill – well, that was a new adventure.
What I quickly realized is that I wasn’t alone. Many entrepreneurs in healthcare experienced similar struggles. So, I dove into the work. I spent countless amounts of hours and money learning how to be successful in running a business and eventually fell in love with how a business operates and how to maximize one. So much so actually, that I wanted to teach others how to accomplish the same things and avoid the traps that I fell into.
My first step in that endeavor was to write a book. Never in my life had ever wanted to be an author, but one day something just clicked and I discover a love for writing that I never knew I had. In October of 2020, I published. “Unf*cking Private Healthcare: The Playbook On Owning Your Dream Practice.” It offers solutions for starting & growing a profitable medical practice that will stand out, separate from the rest and turn patients into raving fans.
I was co-owner of Regenerative Sport, Spine & Spa at the time – a regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy practice in Orlando, FL that specializes in non-surgical orthopedics. This practice grew to 7 figures in 3 years and showed a 50% growth rate in yearly revenue during Co-vid 19. I wanted to share my story and what we did as business to achieve so much success. I did successfully exit this business in 2023.
I have been featured in Orlando Medical News and has also published articles in other magazines on business development as well as physical rehabilitation & ergonomics.
I am a 2023 Forbes Business Council Member and have been voted 2023’s Most Influential Keynote Speaker in Healthcare by InSight Care Magazine.
What I believe separates me from others in the business. “coach” field is that I am an healthcare provider. I understand what it means to go through school to become a provider, to open a business and the struggle most of us never thought we go through in order to be successful. So many people out there offering marketing solutions and “coaching” for healthcare individuals have never actually owned a practice much less made it thought the rigors of academia that it takes to be in this field. We’re often taken advantage of because of this and our ability to help patients suffer.
My mission is and has always to help change the healthcare industry for the patients. They deserve an experience that is transformational and not transactional. I choose to do accomplish that by working with small business owners inside the healthcare industry who share a vision of business success but not at the cost of patient quality of care.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
Our healthcare practice was in its 3rd year and on the rise doing some of the best revenue we had seen. We were feeling really good about our direction as we moved into 2020. Then, Co-Vid 19. Like so many other small businesses we were worried about how this would affect us and if we would be able to stay open. We had the option to retract and wait or push forward.
I had a meeting with my team and told them we were going to double down on our marketing efforts for a couple reasons: We were mostly an all cash practice that served higher end clientele. There was no way they were going to shut their businesses down. They would most likely be going remote and working from home. These people would have more time to take care of their personal health goals, because what else were they going to do with their time.
We grew another 50% in YOY revenue from 2019 to 2020 and another 35% from 2020 to 2021 because we had the foresight and understanding go who we served and what their needs might be during a time where so much was unknown.
This caused us to emerge as the go to center in the area for regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy in orthopedics.

Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
There was nothing like calling my mom to borrow money to make payroll. According to her, I made the claim after I graduated college that I could see myself owning a business and having my own employees but the time I was 40. Well, I had already accomplished that by 35, but what I hadn’t accomplished was learning all the business intellect I needed to be successful at it.
My business partner and I were standing over the computer looking at the nearly $11k we were going to be short on payroll and other expenses for the month and thinking, “What the hell are we gonna do?” We had some AR out there that needed collecting, but it wouldn’t be in time, so the only option I had was to call my mom and ask her to borrow the money so my team wouldn’t have the notion to quit on us.
Luckily she obliged and we were able to pay her back within a couple weeks and keep the doors open, but that was definitely a turning point for me to realize that I didn’t know what I didn’t know yet. I was bright when it came to my craft, but not how to hone that craft into a business venture.
From that point on I invested in myself and my learning, so I could never feel like that again. It absolutely paid off as we crested the 7 figure mark a mere 2 years later and never looked back.
