We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daniel Stoner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daniel below.
Hi Daniel , thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I first knew I wanted to pursue music professionally when I was just 12 years old. Back then, I would sit down and write out lyrics from legends like 2Pac, Biggie, and Eminem, but I’d take out all the cuss words. I didn’t even realize it at the time, but that was my way of staying true to myself and the values I held. I still don’t cuss in my music to this day.
I would memorize those cleaned-up verses and rap them at school as if they were my own. I remember seeing how people reacted to the energy and the passion I brought, even though the words weren’t mine yet. It wasn’t long before I thought, “Why not tell my own story instead?” That’s when I started writing my own songs. I realized I had a voice and something to say that people could relate to.
That was the spark. Those moments in school gave me the confidence to step into my own lane. Music became more than just something I enjoyed—it became a way to express myself and connect with others. From that point on, I knew I had to take this path seriously, not just for me but for anyone who might feel inspired by my journey.
Daniel , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m D Stunna, a hip-hop artist, performer, and songwriter based in Nashville, TN. My journey into music started at 12 years old when I began writing out lyrics from artists like 2Pac, Biggie, and Eminem. I would take out all the cuss words and rap the songs at school as if they were mine. Eventually, I realized I had my own story to tell and started writing my own songs. That decision set me on a path to becoming the artist I am today. I’ve been blessed to build a brand that’s about authenticity, passion, and connection, always staying true to my values—like not cussing in my music—to create something positive and relatable.
My music is a blend of hip-hop and R&B, offering a mix of rhythmic flows and heartfelt storytelling. I work as a solo artist and also perform with my band, Stonerville, which features an electric guitarist, bassist, drummer, and pianist. Together, we provide dynamic live performances that resonate deeply with audiences. We focus on high-quality, professional shows and always aim to create an unforgettable experience for fans.
What sets me apart is my authenticity and versatility. My music reflects my life, my journey as a military veteran, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I solve the “connection gap” in music by creating songs that people from all walks of life can relate to, whether it’s about struggle, triumph, or finding your purpose. I also keep my sound clean and accessible without sacrificing depth or impact.
I’m most proud of staying true to myself and my mission while growing as an artist. From performing with legends like Young Buck to packing out venues like The Cowan in Nashville, every step in my journey has been about progress and staying authentic.
The main things I want fans and clients to know are:
My work is about creating real connections through music.
I focus on delivering quality, whether it’s a recorded track, a live performance, or an inspiring story through lyrics.
I’m here to inspire, motivate, and entertain while staying true to who I am.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There was a moment in 2020 when I almost gave up on music entirely. It was a tough and depressing time for everyone, and I had just dropped an album. But instead of feeling proud or accomplished, I was overwhelmed with doubt. I remember sitting there, saying out loud to myself, “Maybe I should just stop.”
And then, as if the universe was listening, my phone rang. It was someone who had heard the album, and they said, “Hey man, I just wanted to let you know—I love that new album you dropped.” In that moment, it felt like a sign—a reminder that I was doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing.
That call hit me hard because it wasn’t just about the compliment; it was about the timing. It felt like confirmation that my music had a purpose, that it was reaching people in ways I couldn’t always see. That moment reignited my passion and reminded me that even when it feels like no one is listening, someone out there is being moved by what I create.
It taught me resilience and solidified my belief that I’m on the right path. It’s experiences like that which keep me grounded and motivated to push forward, knowing that my music can make a difference, even in the darkest times.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely. My goal as an artist is to create music that inspires, connects, and uplifts people. My mission is to tell authentic stories that reflect real-life experiences—both the struggles and the triumphs—while staying true to who I am. I want my music to be a source of motivation and hope for anyone who listens, showing them that no matter what they’re going through, they’re not alone.
I also aim to prove that you don’t have to compromise your values to succeed in the industry. From the beginning, I’ve stayed true to my decision not to cuss in my music, and that’s a big part of my message: staying authentic in a world that often pushes for conformity.
Ultimately, my creative journey is about leaving a legacy—creating timeless music that resonates across generations and inspires others to pursue their own paths, no matter the obstacles. Whether it’s through my lyrics, my performances with my band, Stonerville, or my personal story, I want to encourage people to embrace their potential and never give up on their dreams. That’s what drives me every single day.
