Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daniel Solis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Daniel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
This next year for The Ransom Brothers will be a big one. We are fixing to record our sophomore album that will be produced by Gordy Quist from The Band of Heathens. We’ve followed them for years, covered their tunes and now we’ll be working with them. It’s crazy to think just a little over a year ago we were planning our first album, now we’re fixing to work with Gordy Quist. We learned a lot working on our first album and we’re taking all that into the studio with us second time around. Our goal for this second album is to be louder, bolder, and get people to understand that seeing us live is one hell of an experience.
Daniel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We started The Ransom Brothers back in 2020 between vocalist/guitarist Sean McHargue and myself Daniel Solis (guitar/mandolin). Our goal was to make music that had country and classic rock influences intertwined throughout with powerful lyrics. After a string of open mics/acoustic gigs we found ourselves getting booked at the legendary Saxon Pub and knew we had to start finding band members and go full force. Overtime we were able to bring on John Thomas (fiddle), Phil Eckhardt (bass), Aaron English (drums) and James Rodman (keys). What you end up with is a group of very talented musicians who all know how to blend their sounds together to create interesting and moving songs. If you ever see us live you’ll see just how much we love to let all the instruments shine at different moments that allows us to have a wide variety of song styles that’s cohesive and represents a band of brothers. Overtime we’ve expanded into different venues such as Sagebrush, Continental Club, Antone’s and don’t plan to stop anytime soon.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
For a lot of us we’re chasing stages. We want to put our feet on the same stages that our idols have played. We’ve been fortunate enough to play Saxon Pub, Continental Club and Antone’s and Gruene Hall. A few Bucket list venues include ACL Live, Redrocks and The Paramount Theater.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Sharing our posts on upcoming shows, sharing our music with friends, and buying merchandise. A koozie and a sticker go a long way, it helps other people find out about us, and to be honest most of us aren’t making much from the gig itself, merchandise helps bring a lot of cash in which goes towards our recording efforts and re-fulling the merchandise lines.
