We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daniel Powell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daniel below.
Daniel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Before leaving Atlanta, and relocating to Tampa, Fl. with my family and joining my parents’ church. I created a sauce that I called the “Marley sauce” which I named after my daughter. I hadn’t started my business yet and I was still working at one of the top restaurants in Atlanta. I began to allow my friends and family to taste the sauce and everyone loved it. That’s when I knew I had to keep going.
Two years later, I was laid off from my job. Needed a way to provide for my family quickly. I began working at another restaurant but I couldn’t focus, I was stressed from bills piling up and I just wanted a change. I knew God was calling me higher. To a place of purpose. I knew the way I was living wasn’t where I was supposed to be.
So in the Summer of 2016, I left for Florida. To start my life over and to start it right. I began to start taking orders for my business. I wanted another source of income where I could help build up the ministry but to be able to have opportunities where we could eventually provide jobs and for others.
I knew what I was doing in my life and business would be worthwhile because I knew it would benefit the church, ministry, my children and generations to come. Again, our long-term goal is to begin to provide job placement for those who have a hard time finding employment. Also it would be a way that I can help give back to the community.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I’m Daniel Powell, a man of God, a husband, a father and a Prophet. I live my life for the Lord. But it hasn’t always been that way. Back in 2007, I lost almost 3 years of my life when I went to prison. God gave me a second chance at freedom. And I never looked back. I started a family and began to work in the restaurant industry as we were figuring out life. I changed my life completely when we moved to Tampa, Fl. This is when I began to take my vision for my Powell’s Fine Dining business seriously. PFD is a private food & beverage service specializing in private dinners, catering events, business luncheons, meal-preps and more.
I’m most proud of the success that I’ve had so far personally and professionally. The main things I want my future followers and/ or viewers to know is that first and foremost, that my Leadership as a Prophet is what drives anything that is connected to me. Powell’s Fine Dining is just one of many opportunities I will be graced to run, own and operate. My faith, belief system and position in the ministry sets who I am and what we do apart from the rest.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A time when I pivoted is when I changed my life and got saved, which led to me birthing Powell’s Fine Dining. Which then allows me to travel and minister.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My business partner is my father, Prophet Daniel Powell Sr. Which happens to also be my leader and covering. He is the visionary of Faith & Works Ministries which covers 15 churches and ministries over the country. And also the Overseer of Heaven to Earth Worship Center located in Tampa, Florida and in the Philippines.
