We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Daniel “Moo” Mouzon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Daniel “Moo”, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I worked on as a photographer was my first wedding. I was given the incredible opportunity by a client who reached out to me, even though I was only two years into my photography journey. Recognizing the gravity of the occasion and the fact that there are no second chances with weddings, I was both excited and nervous.
I was transparent with the client about it being my first wedding, expressing my gratitude for the trust they placed in me. To ensure I delivered the best results, I invested in a two-camera setup with a DSLR and a Mirrorless camera, each serving a specific purpose. Additionally, I enrolled in online courses to hone my skills and prepare for the big day.
On the wedding day, I made it a point to over-shoot, capturing over 4000 pictures to avoid missing any crucial moments. It might have been a rookie mistake, but it allowed me to cover every aspect of the event thoroughly. In the end, I believe I did a beautiful job, capturing the emotions of everyone and delivering stunning action shots at the reception.
What made this project particularly meaningful was the sense of accomplishment I felt afterward. The bride and groom were genuinely delighted with the results, appreciating the way I captured the essence of their special day. It was a moment of pride for me, realizing that despite being relatively new to the field, I had successfully documented one of the most significant days in someone’s life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, I’m Daniel Mouzon, but most people know me as ‘Moo,’ the man behind 227 Productions LLC. The origin of my nickname is quite unique – it’s a playful twist on my last name, given to me by my mother. Ironically, I used to dislike it, but as I grew older, it became a part of my identity that I embraced.
I delved into photography in 2018 as a means of coping with severe depression. The camera offered a solitary escape into nature, allowing me to capture moments without needing anyone around. However, I soon discovered that creating quality photos was more than just owning a good camera. I took the initiative to learn my equipment and sought advice from seasoned photographers. That’s when I stumbled upon the exposure triangle, and it truly changed my life.
The more I immersed myself in photography, the more it became a source of solace and passion. After a year of capturing random objects daily, I decided to expand into photographing people, starting with my daughter. As I gained confidence, others began reaching out for photoshoots, prompting me to consider a professional path.
I committed to furthering my knowledge by enrolling in courses on photography and business ownership. Now, photography is not just my passion; it’s a way for me to bring joy to others. Witnessing the smiles and tears of joy from clients when I deliver the finished product is incredibly fulfilling.
If you choose to book me for your photography needs, you can expect a warm welcome, a highly personable approach, and a commitment to professionalism. I aim to ensure every client has an amazing experience and walks away with memories captured beautifully.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Early on, I partnered with a friend to launch a photography business. However, our diverging levels of passion and commitment prompted me to pivot to a solo venture. This shift presented new challenges that required increased self-sufficiency and adaptability.
Solo entrepreneurship forced me to become more resilient, honing my business acumen and expanding my knowledge base. While initially daunting, this transition ultimately strengthened my abilities and allowed me to cultivate a more direct relationship with clients. Navigating the complexities of running the business independently not only shaped me into a better entrepreneur but also significantly contributed to the growth of my clientele.
Today, I can reflect on this challenge as a pivotal moment that made me a more versatile and accomplished photographer, equipped to overcome unforeseen obstacles and provide an even better experience for my clients.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the habit of constantly comparing myself to others. I found that art, including photography, is inherently subjective. When I used to scrutinize others’ work and question why mine didn’t measure up, it led to self-doubt and discouragement.
However, once I consciously built up my self-confidence and reframed my mindset to believe that my work was inherently valuable, everything changed. Embracing the uniqueness of my perspective and style allowed me to reach a new level of confidence. Consequently, my work began to speak for itself, resonating with others in a way that was authentic to me. This shift not only enhanced the quality of my photography but also significantly contributed to my overall growth and satisfaction as an artist.
