We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daniel Martin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daniel below.
Daniel, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I decided when I was 13 that the only way for me to be happy or content with my life was to pursue a career that didn’t feel like a job. Being fairly new to the music thing, I quickly fell in love with it and decided that it was the only thing I could do forever. At that point in my life, baseball was the focus, so I had to make a major shift in my interests and apply all of my extra time to getting good at not only playing guitar, but writing, crafting and working with a band. Those years shaped up who I am today, and are the reason why I have been able to do it professionally for so long.

Daniel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a Producer, Songwriter and Engineer that has had the ability to work with some amazingly talented individuals throughout my journey. After starting as a scrappy teenager in Punk Rock bands in Orange County, Ca. I moved on to more aggressive, hard rock bands that led me to a point where I was sharing the stage as the opening act with legendary metal bands like Korn, or Slipknot. While I had fun with those bands, it helped me realize that touring wasn’t for me. I enjoyed working on something new everyday, with new people. So, I re-directed that passion for music into a studio setting, where I found myself writing and make songs for not only rock bands, but several country acts. My newfound love for county moved me to Nashville, where I’m now running a full production service for artists big and small.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal has always been to create a space for independent art in such a big, over saturated space. I’ve always tried to encourage artists to work toward their goals, despite the obstacles that may get in their way. As a result, I’ve often helped fund up and coming artists in order to make sure the world can hear the music they are creating. Indie music has a huge purpose and I”m hoping to make a path for them to earn more while in pursuit of their dreams.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is the hardest part of being a musician/songwriter in today’s music business. I build a decent following by trying to offer something of value to the person on the other end. I didn’t sit there any promote my business or services as a songwriter or producer. I gave first. I let people into an unfiltered part of my world by telling real stories that made an impact on my life, hoping it would in turn make an impact on theirs. I’m now able to engage with so many different artists all of the world as a result of me opening my door to some of the more vulnerable moments I’ve gone through in my journey.
