We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daniel Lewis Sr. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daniel below.
Daniel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
My thoughts on family businesses is that they are great and a must have in my opinion. They are great for the local community. I believe that a family business not only provides a source of income but also installs discipline and structure for the members that are in it. It’s a first hand look at entrepreneurship for everyone. I have been running a family business for 1 year and I have learned ALOT! I must say there are ups and downs but lucky for me the pros outweigh the cons. For instance in a family business you get to work with ones you love and trust.
Some key factors that work well with the family business are communication, team work and shared goals.
Having good communication ensures that information is clear and understood by all members. This reduces misunderstandings and errors. Having team work in a family business means providing support and encouragement to one another during challenging times and maintaining that motivation. Which leads me to why having shared goals is essential. A shared goal is important for the family business, ensuring the long term success of the business and family legacy.
Mixing family and personal issues in a family business can be a significant pitfall. often leading to emotional decision making rather than business focused strategies. Also time management can be a pitfall as for the lack of separating business time with family time can result to members being stressed or feeling like they’re never off duty which can lead to burnout.
Yes, I would want my children to join the family business if they are genuinely interested and passionate about it. I believe in the value of carrying on a family legacy, but it’s crucial that they find their own motivation and drive in the work they do. By pursuing their own interests within the business, they can bring fresh perspectives and energy, which is essential for growth and innovation. Ultimately, I want them to be happy and fulfilled in their careers, whether that means joining the family business or following a different path.

Daniel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello! My name is Daniel Lewis Sr., and I’m thrilled to introduce myself to you. At 31 years old, I’m a proud father of four and recently engaged to the love of my life. My journey as an entrepreneur began at the tender age of 12, and it’s a path I’ve passionately followed ever since.
My entrepreneurial spirit was ignited early on. At just 12 years old, I started my first business by cutting grass in my neighborhood, going door to door to offer my services. This experience taught me valuable lessons about hard work, perseverance, and the importance of providing quality service. These lessons have stayed with me throughout my life and continue to guide me in all my endeavors.
Family is at the heart of everything I do. My four children and my fiancée are my greatest sources of joy and inspiration. We cherish the time we spend together, creating lasting memories through various activities and adventures. Whether it’s a simple weekend outing or a big family vacation, we make sure to make every moment count.
Our love for making memories together led to the creation of Drippy Bear. One day, while looking for a fun and creative activity to do as a family, we came up with the idea of Drippy Bear. It quickly became a beloved tradition in our household, and we realized it was something special that other families might enjoy as well.
Drippy Bear is more than just an activity; it’s an experience designed to bring families together, spark creativity, and create lasting memories. Through Drippy Bear, we aim to share the joy and togetherness that we’ve found in our family with others. We believe that everyone deserves to have the Drippy Bear experience and hope it brings as much happiness to you as it has to us.
I hope that by sharing my story, you can get to know me better and perhaps find inspiration in your own life. Whether you’re an aspiring entrepreneur, a dedicated family person, or someone looking for new ways to bond with loved ones.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Yes, there was a significant time when I had to pivot in my career. I had been working in the automotive industry for 10 years when the company asked me to relocate. At that time, my fiancée was pregnant, and relocating would not have been the best decision for our growing family. After careful consideration, I decided to part ways with the company and took a severance package. This pivotal moment allowed me to refocus on entrepreneurship, a field I was passionate about. It was a challenging but ultimately rewarding decision that led to personal growth and new opportunities.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of finding new clients for me has been attending pop-up shops, craft fairs, and county fairs all over my city. These events provide great opportunities to connect with potential customers face-to-face, showcase my products, and build relationships within the community. Engaging directly with people in these settings has proven to be incredibly effective for expanding my client base and increasing brand awareness
