We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daniel Ford. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daniel below.
Hi Daniel, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I’ve learned how to create my own vlogs, record my own vocals, and produce my own beats all this year alone. Other than learning from people hands on (1-on-1 training), I am a student and a scholar of YouTube University. We’ll get back to that.
I don’t have any regrets on how fast/soon I learn things, but I wish I would’ve paid attention many years ago when I was being taught how to record my own vocals. Who knows where I would be? Nonetheless, I’m glad I’ve learned.
The most essential skill I’ve learned is building discipline to remain focused and practicing every day to master the craft. I asked myself every morning, “How bad do you want this? How are you going to stand out from others who do what you do?” A lot of people have big dreams, but most would be distracted by fear, lack of confidence, and excuses. If you really want what you are praying for/manifesting, you would do everything in your power to lock in and commit to that goal/dream being a reality, no matter who you are, or what you do!
As I said, previously, I am a student and a scholar of YouTube University. I’ve watched many podcasts and videos learning about the music business, producing different genres of music, mixing/mastering vocals, learning how to film/edit vlogs with the equipment I already have (iPhone), and many more. I listen to a number of music artists from a number a genres and different eras of music. There’s plenty of game and inspiration in the music if you pay attention to what the artists are saying. I like to call that “digging in the crates, studying the crates”. And you can use that terminology in any field who aspire to have a career in.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is FordOhhFord. I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but I am now living in Denver, Colorado. I’m an independent American music artist and producer (specializing in Hip Hop, R&B, and NeoSoul), a vlogger and podcast host of the “Creative Storm” podcast. I provide filming services for podcasts/interviews, beats, and studio time for the music artists. I’m here to motivate and inspire. All my creatives tap in with me. Let’s turn ideas to impact!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is simply to motivate and inspire. Whether it’s the music or the content I create around the music, I love being inspired by the artists and creatives I’m inspired by so I can turn what I learned into art and spread the motivation and inspiration to all my supporters around the world.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Real resilience in music doesn’t revolve around developing tough skin or disregarding criticism related to your music to protect your feelings. It involves prioritizing the joy that comes from the craft as a central focus in your artistic endeavors.
