Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daniel Edwards . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Daniel , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
Transformation Shoppe LLC has morphed several times over the years; but the vision has always been the same. Providing health and wellness consultations to individuals across the country. In the beginning it looked like me providing golf lessons and doing personal training. Which eventually led to me serving as a life coach and assisting people with disability issues, ie: short term/long term disability, FMLA, & social security. That looked like me answering questions about paperwork to even assisting with paperwork. Currently, I work as a contractor mental health therapist providing therapy through a private group practice; while Transformation Shoppe still serves as a source for life coaching, consulting and now providing tutoring. The tutoring has ranged from counseling exams like the CPCE and NCE, to the GMAT, GRE and even the LSAT. Overall, I’m a helping professional who enjoys working with people in various capacities making their life flow easier in whatever way I can. I wouldn’t do anything differently because every step I’ve taken has been a lesson learned and experienced gained. My advice to young entrepreneurs, is also what I tell myself, keep going and never give up on that long term vision. I’m not done yet. There’s still bigger and better things coming!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As mentioned Transformation Shoppe is my primary umbrella. Under that umbrella I am fortunate to work as a mental health psychotherapist in a separate capacity. I’m a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor serving individuals & couples in Georgia; currently working towards independent licensure. I am telehealth based and my clients tend to identify as athletes of all levels, Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Some of my clinical focus areas are sports performance, anxiety/stress coping skills, emotion and mood regulation, spirituality, religion/cult trauma, and gender/sexual identity.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
I would definitely choose the same profession & I don’t think I would change my path because I’ve learned something from every step along the way. What I would do differently is get a PsyD; but there’s no time limit for education & I consider myself a life long learner so who knows maybe I’ll be a psychologist one day.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Being genuine & relatable. I think what has helped me build my reputation is that I’m human and I want clients and potential clients to know that and feel that. I don’t want to ever give the impression that just because I’m a therapist, that means I’m perfect, I’m far from it.
