We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Daniel Dreszer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Daniel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The collaborative work through Digital media such as Short films, Reality TV and independent films have always been the most unique and special thing when it comes to my professional career. However as time moves on and the creation and development of more newer, ambitious and larger scale projects have now taken my upmost personal, emotional and professional sight. We are exited to announce that throughout the last 6 months I have begun work for my new film and most personal work till this day Milo: The Voyage to Atlantis. A live action short film concept for the original animated (2001) film. The project is currently under pre-production and has some of the most successful group of workers I have had the pleasure of knowing. From Golden globe winning editors to ShotDeck cinematographers. Thanks to the incredible collaboration between Film students and Industry workers we have been able to bring the possibility of this project closer to the big screen. As actor and Project manager of the film we can assure audience members that this film will bring something unique and full of passion to all audiences and Atlantis fans out there.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As a movie fanatic and “cinema geek,” I knew I wanted to work in the world of movies since I was a child. Being captivated by some of the best performances and worlds I had ever seen lead me to a path of comedy, adventure and creativity which helped pave my inspirations for the creations of my own personal projects. Obtaining a BFA at Ringling College of Art and Design with a major in Film and a minor in Business, and currently obtaining an MFA at New York Film Academy in Acting for Film, I set out to learn and work on various different positions in the entertainment industry. My past work experiences include; (Set work for Canal Caracol Televisión in Bogota, Colombia, Social Media practices and Video Editing at VE M Entertainment Records, Post Production technical analyst work on media at Paramount’s streaming service Pluto TV in Los Angeles and now Digital Media and film Advertising for Cinematographer Lawrence Sher’s company ShotDeck.) The level of efficiency that one can obtain by trying out different positions is not only a great way to gain more knowledge, expand your skills and most importantly, meet and obtain more connections.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
There is a very powerful drive that filmmakers and artists have when knowing the lengths that they want to go to and how far they want their personal goals to be from once reach. I myself intend on hopefully continuing work with the talented people I have meet so far and hopefully get the opportunity to work for some of the company’s that gave me the inspiration to make this crazy world of films my entire life. However, I have understood the difficult yet motivational trajectory all independent artists go through as they try to make something of themselves. However I can say that there is a certain beauty when you stop climbing the “mountain of ambition” just for a short while and quickly glance at the view and how high you might be at this given moment. Taking the opportunity to step back and acknowledging what you HAVE done so far. Might now be nearly as close to what others might consider greatness, but if you take a look at the view and see a little farther than the last… Congratulations that means you are now higher than you ever thought you could get. Be thankful for the opportunities that come your way and most importantly take pride in them no matter the level of circumstances.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media became a major part of my hobby’s. Film advertising and marketing is one of my most motivational and nonstop sideline. Whether it revolves around promotional or research information, I began to inform myself on all news, media events and industry products I found interesting and began sharing it with the public. This lead me to the rabbit hole of social media from free promotional advertisement to tags and hashtags which lead to reposts and major companies liking, re-sharing I was driven to the idea of sharing with the audiences. Releasing content, sharing posts, commenting on subjects, connecting with other companies, studios and or major industry workers through likes and follows that have helped me obtain connections and special access to events, and cinema insights such as screenings, red carpets etc. Now working as a movie social media advertising intern, I have to say I really do hope to get the opportunity of personal collaboration’s for marketing and digital publishing with studios and upcoming films.
