We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daniel & Chip Coleman & Bouchard. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daniel & Chip below.
Hi Daniel & Chip, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of the most meaningful projects we’ve worked on was producing Heartbeat Retreat, a multi-day music and wellness festival we created with our team at Lonely Lovers Records. It was more than just a party. It was a space built around connection, creativity, and intention. We partnered with The Jed Foundation to raise money for mental health and suicide prevention—something that means a lot to us and to a lot of people in our community.
We brought out artists from all over the country, each one hand-selected by us. Everyone on the lineup brought something special, and it created this beautiful mix of energy, talent, and vulnerability that carried through the whole weekend. From sunrise sets with live painting to late-night fire circles, yoga, and sound healing, it gave people a chance to slow down and reconnect—with themselves, with nature, and with each other.
At the core of it is what Lonely Lovers stands for. “Lonely” isn’t about being alone. It’s about self-love, reflection, and showing up for the people around you. Heartbeat Retreat brought that message to life and reminded us what’s possible when music and community come together with real purpose.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We’re Dos Lonely Boys—Chip and Daniel—a DJ/producer duo and the founders of Lonely Lovers Records. We met in high school and reconnected after college in 2017 after a trip to Camp Flog Gnaw inspired us to start making music together. In 2018, we moved to Las Vegas to dive into the scene, and by 2020 we had relocated to San Diego, where our sound and vision really came together.
Since then, we’ve played major festivals like Audiotistic, Decadence, Splash House, Life is Beautiful, and Gold Rush, and supported artists like Major Lazer, Moon Boots, The Knocks, Whethan, Lee Foss, Tchami, and Amtrac. Our sets blend UKG, garage house, breakbeats, tech house, hip-hop, and dance music classics.
On the production side, tracks like “Flashback” and “Whatcha Need Whatcha Want” have gained traction on Spotify, while our edit of A$AP Rocky’s “Sundress” has been steadily growing on SoundCloud and connecting with a wider audience.
In 2023, we launched Lonely Lovers Records and debuted Heartbeat Retreat, a multi-day music and wellness festival that also raised funds for The Jed Foundation. It brought together everything we care about—music, community, and purpose.
Now living in two creative cities—Nashville and Seattle—we’re embracing the distance as part of the story. The “Lonely” in Dos Lonely Boys and Lonely Lovers isn’t about being alone—it’s about finding strength in solitude, staying grounded in your vision, and building real connection across any distance.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building our audience on social media has never been about chasing algorithms or trying to go viral. From the start, it’s been about real connection. As we’ve moved from city to city—Reno, Vegas, San Diego, now Seattle and Nashville—we’ve made it a point to connect with people in each scene, not just for the sake of growth, but because we truly care about building something together. Many of those early connections are still helping us grow today.
Social media is just an extension of that. We post consistently, but with intention. We share our process, our edits, and moments from our journey—but we also show love to the people around us. Whether it’s other artists, fans, or people we’ve met along the way, we always try to give back and keep it personal. That’s what’s helped build real community, not just a following.
If you’re just starting out, here’s what we’d say:
Be consistent, but keep it real. Don’t post just to stay active.
Reach out to people you look up to. You’d be surprised who’s open to connecting.
And when people reach out to you, take the time to respond. That energy always comes back around.
Don’t just network—build something real. Support the people around you because you mean it.
And document the process. It doesn’t have to be polished, just honest.
At the end of the day, the people you meet, the way you treat them, and the energy you put out will take you further than any viral moment. That’s how we’ve grown, and that’s how we’ll keep going.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
One thing non-creatives might struggle to understand is that creative work isn’t linear—and it’s not always visible. There are long stretches where it might look like “nothing” is happening, especially on social media. But in reality, that’s often when we’re working the hardest—writing, refining, building out the next vision. It’s internal. It’s unseen. And it’s necessary.
On the flip side, when people see the big shows or the festival clips, it looks like pure chaos and high energy—like DJs are just living one big party. But what they don’t see is the preparation, the strategy, the long hours leading up to those moments. That one set is often the result of weeks—or months—of planning, production, and discipline. The energy you see onstage is the culmination of all that behind-the-scenes work coming together in a single moment.
The biggest insight we can offer is this: don’t mistake silence for stillness, or excitement for ease. Support matters—whether it’s a stream, a share, or just being present. Those gestures mean more than you think. Behind every high is a grind that most never see. And behind every so-called “quiet” period is someone sharpening their craft, waiting for the right moment to move.
