Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daniel Capellaro Dave Wood. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Daniel Capellaro, appreciate you joining us today. Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
When Dave and I decided to create XIXI Music Pro (pronounced 11-11) we wanted to focus on creating a safe place for every level of songwriter and artist could thrive. We want to include the artist and writer in the creative production process as we find it’s absolutely necessary when developing an artist’s song and sound.
Daniel Capellaro, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
XIXI was founded in Los Angeles in 2021 by my dear friend and colleague, Dave Wood, and I. It is both a brick-and-mortar recording studio in Sherman Oaks, CA as well as a remote production company that specializes in writing, producing, mixing, and mastering. We have helped develop dozens of artists from all genres of music.
I am a singer/songwriter and producer who has been working in the music industry for over 20 years in Los Angeles. I have written and produced for Major Labels and Major Label artists as well as Publishing companies and music supervisors. In addition to writing hit songs for Artists such as Pitbull, Chris Brown, Lifehouse, Maxwell, and Boyz II Men, I have also charted Top 40 on radio stations internationally in Pop EDM and R&B hit singles. I write and collaborate with DJs from all over the world. His music can be heard on NBC, CBS, HBO, and ABC. I have also created marketing campaigns helping develop new independent talent and have had music synched in film and television working alongside Oscar and Grammy-winning artists and composers. I help assemble production teams in Los Angeles, as well as Internationally, that specialize in music creation, Artist growth and development, creating content, and strategic marketing.
My partner Dave Wood is a producer and touring and studio guitarist, Dave has appeared with Andra Day, Dua Lipa, Jessie J, Common, Jennifer Lopez, Sabrina Carpenter, Jonathan Butler, Marie’ Digby, Jesse McCartney, Lil Wayne, Taylor Hicks, and Hilary Duff. In early 2020, composer Joachim Horsley hired Dave to perform in Warner Brothers ‘Batman – Soul of the Dragon’. Released in early 2021 the animated movie topped the Blu-Ray charts for several weeks. Dave is a recurring guitarist for Disney’s ‘Big City Greens and HBO’s ‘Gordita Chronicles”. As an arranger/producer, Dave has been featured in Pixar’s ‘Cars 3’, TV commercials for Hyatt, Genesis, Coca Cola, and as a composer for the end title credits of Paramounts ‘Ben Hur’. His self-published instructional book ’The Secret Guitar Method’ has been helping aspiring guitarists since 2005. From 2009 to 2015 he performed at Sayers Club, Hollywood with Prince, Stevie Wonder, Macy Gray, Gavin Degraw, and many others. TV credits include NBC, ABC, Discovery Channel, TLC, VH1, Spike TV and many many more.
Clients can come in with either a fully written song they want to record or just an idea and the studio comes equipped with the highest quality recording equipment as well as a full drum kit, upright piano, and dozens of guitars and microphones.
“The process of making a song should be fun! We wanted to create a safe space for artists of every level to make their dream song come true.”
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
We want our artists to grow both artistically as well as collaboratively. In addition to making the best song or using the best sounds we have it’s imperative that the artists take part in this creative process. Our goal is to educate them on the transformative experience of creating and recording a song from scratch. The Mix process is also something we welcome our clients to take part in for them to learn and experience what sonics are and how best to interact with their music.
How’d you meet your business partner?
We met over 20 years ago in Los Angeles, CA. I had a band at the time and was in need of a guitar player. Dave had been touring with various major label artists and we met for a show. We both immediately hit it off. We both share a unique passion and drive for music, family, and COFFEE!
