We were lucky to catch up with Daniel Calvelli recently and have shared our conversation below.
Daniel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
Because of the popularity of TikTok and Instagram Reels, I believe the biggest trend in the industry is the dramatic change to video from most creators that I follow. I see the trend as both good and bad I believe that it’s good because it allows creators to become versatile and become skilled at more than one craft. However I am concerned that photography could become a lost craft due to the growing popularity of short form content.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been creating my entire life. Eventually my love for sports found its way into my love for creating, my freshman year of high school I decided to pick up my camera and shoot sports when I was not playing sports myself. Eventually I had received such great feedback from everyone I worked with I decided to take off with it and continue into college where I am now a Video Assistant intern at Palm Beach Atlantic University. I also shoot sports for local high schools in an effort to highlight their athletes and give them exposure to help them get into college. I also shoot sports for neighboring Florida Atlantic University such as football and starting soon with basketball.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Expanding my range to newer places. For a while I was stuck shooting games in one county then I decided to go further south and it unlocked a new base for me to look into.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
When people post my stuff or use it as a profile picture. Just the fact that I was able to make them happy with my work is why I do it, as long as I get to make at least one person happy that’s the most rewarding thing to me.
