We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Daniel Brown a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Daniel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
So I had a hard childhood. I grew up in a very abusive household. My dad was an alcoholic, conducted business unethically, and took it all out on us. Since I was the youngest, everyone took it all out on me. For the longest time, I never knew the word “safe” or “home” or “love without a catch”. Not only was I abused at home and family gatherings, but I also faced abuse at school. I was the slow kid. The kid picked last. The target. Especially since I couldn’t read until highschool. There just seemed to be a pattern where everywhere I went, abuse followed me. I didn’t really have any friends either.
I stuggled physically. mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Additionally, in high school, I started having severe health conditions in which I faced multiple near deaths and was a medical mystery case. Several doctors told me that what I had was so severe that I would either die or be in a wheelchair in my 20s.
With all of this happening, I dealt with a lot of loneliness and sleepless nights.
But God had other plans.
I am now 30 years old. I can read without issues or assistance. I can walk and run. You would never know I dealt with any of the stuff from my past. I would be a fool not to give God the credit. It is truly because of Jesus that I am alive and that I can function.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a strong interest in business and helping people, especially a company’s startup and building phase. I have always loved meeting and talking to passionate and mission-oriented people. I have accumulated over 10 years of marketing and sales experience and have invested six figures worth to obtain my knowledge and expertise. I continue to invest to deepen my knowledge.
My agency is called The Brown Business Group. I started my agency a little over 3 years ago after moving to the Kaufman County area to be married.
I had no contacts, no reputation, and no startup capital. I had just an idea, my expertise, a mission, a passion for helping, and a wife who believes in me.
My mission is to help people. Help people who are pursing their mission and need help along the way. Encourage people who are feeling hopeless. I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of entrepreneurs. I have come to find out how mission-oriented they are. The path of a business owner when starting a business is hard. You start at ground 0. No one knows your business. Your business is an underdog. I want to help the underdogs.
Many hear about the trophies, awards, and testimonies of business owners. Few know what it took to sit in the owner’s chair. Few know about the hard times, the sleepless nights, the doubts, the fears, the sweat, and sacrifices. As an owner you wear every hat. Where you go, the business goes. Just like, whereever God is, the kingdom is.
The mission of the Brown Business Group is to provide clarity and leadership to enable proprietors to make successful decisions that lead to growth. We aim to help improve organizations’ marketing and growth and give a sense of community, collaboration, and partnership along the way. We help overcome obstacles, shine a light on the path ahead, and bring clarity to owners who feel they need more options or are trying to figure out what to do or where to go.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have spent the majority of my years and adult life in Texas. I have strong roots as a man of faith in God and have always been a family man.

I have helped many clients with a wide range of obstacles and marketing budgets ranging from $100s per month to $10,000+ per month. A significant foundation for helping business owners grow, overcome hurdles, and make better decisions has consistently been by understanding what the data is saying. A core competency that I strive for is not only for clients to achieve the desired outcome but to experience a genuine sense of community and support along the way.
Here is a testimony from one of our clients named Don Suell, Co-Owner of D Top Dog Pet Services. I am very proud of the work we have done for this client:
“Let me first start off by saying that I am extremely grateful that I ran into Daniel at the FANG networking event. He was one of two people throughout the whole event that I actually received services from, and he was exactly as advertised. he was extremely instrumental in implementing new ideas, revamping my website, helping me understand my Google analytics trend, and how I can reach more clients and bring in more customers.
He was very knowledgeable about everything he was recommending and also willing to spend his time to come out to my shop and take pictures and videos for More, marketing advertisement and helping me build my brand. He truly took time to understand my business ask us questions and was very receptive and receiving when given any type of feedback.
Daniel truly made it easy to trust him because he was very genuine and made sure that he was working with me each step of the way to get my business where it is needed to go. Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
I experienced a near-death moment for the business in the 1st or 2nd week after my wife gave birth to our daughter. In this week, I lost every client we had but one. However, due to the nature of the birth, I needed to do stay home to tend to my wife to take as much off her plate as possible. So I was in a position where I couldn’t go out to networking meetings get more clients since the majority of my clients were local. I
n that week I just kept getting text after text from our clients. It was like a domino effect. All for different reasoning in the same week. It was a stressful time for sure as it placed a financial tole on us. But I don’t regret for one second my decision to stay and help my wife and daughter during this period.
It wasn’t until a couple months went by that my wife was in a better position for me to go back out to networking groups to build the business again. I still remember the first drive returning to the networking groups and how it felt like I was completely starting over.
We started to get new clients, eventually recouping the money lost. Now, my agency is bigger and stronger and is performing better than before we lost the clients after my wife’s labor.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Consistently building new professional relationships, growing my lines of referrals, and performing consistent follow-ups with professional relationships.
