We recently connected with Dania Cuadra and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dania, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
First big risk was to move here with my husband and kids from our country and start again a new life. We have been here now for 8 years and still sometimes it’s difficult but every time we think that we are doing this change for the future of our kids. Personally I had my bachelor in International Business and here I had to reinvent myself and look for better opportunities to grow an develop my talents, so with my husband’s support I was able to study again Medical Assistant and graduated in a total different field for me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I had to reinvent myself many times to try to get what I want. For sure discipline is one of the biggest things that helps in different way to conquer what are you looking for. I always love to bake and do desserts, I love sweets, and I realize that here in Utah in every event that I attended it was just a huge piece of cake, different flavor, but huge portions, and of course I wanted to try them all. Not good for my blood sugar, then I thought “what about having tiny pieces with different flavors so I can try as much as I want and not feel guilty? Then Tiny Sweets Desserts was born, to provide quality desserts in small sizes, with a variety of flavor to endulce yourself.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I learned that you have to be open mind, you have to listen other, you have to adapt things of your business. Is not always like you thought in the begging. When I started Tiny Sweets Dessert I wanted to provide everything about candies, pastries and desserts. I realized that I had to start with baby steps, and ask for feedback. I has something in mine, but the clients sometime thinks different. I had to accept that not always I had the reason, that there are other points of views, and there are constructive feedback that I needed to apply in my business. I’m really grateful for all those clients that helped me to be in the place that I’m now.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I think that the most of the time it’s so easy to give up. And when you start a business you’ll find many obstacles that probably makes you feel that things are not going well and it will be better to quit to your dream. Specially if you are vulnerable because its a new journey that you are living. To have positive thoughts is not automatic, to think the best it’s not coming easy, so you have to learn how to be resilient, how to face the trials with the best in you, and ask for help, do some research and find articles that’s motivates you and teach you how to be resilient and the most important thing is how can apply what I learned. It’s not going to be easy in the beginning, still sometimes it’s not easy, but you just have to keep moving forward and never give up
