We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dani Leggett. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dani below.
Dani, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
As a yoga teacher, I want people to go inward, allowing themselves to just be, as they are. Yoga has become so westernized and almost stereotypical. When I say picture a yoga class, you most likely have a picture in your head of flexible people in yoga pants on pretty yoga mats. And those classes are wonderful and hold value, but a lot of people stay away because they are afraid. They don’t feel like they fit the physical standard to attend a class like that. And then while you are in that class you are focused on doing the poses right, being less flexible than the person, judging the way you might be looking, etc.
So, in my yoga classes, we use the theme of Somatics, which is the mind-body connection. I invite you to tune into your body and allow what you need in that moment. Depending on the sensations you are feeling, maybe your back is sore, or your hips are tight. As you listen to these sensations, you can start to understand yourself better, trust your intuition more, and move in the way that feels best for you in that moment. I will give examples of ways to move into your sensations and allow you the freedom to move as you feel is right.
It’s a much more spiritual and mindful practice than your typical yoga classes these days.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I sort of fell backwards into the space I’m in now. I followed my intuition as opportunities arose and here I am. My studio wasn’t premeditated. A friend asked if I’d be interested in taking over her space and as I followed my intuition, I said yes! We opened The Granary Healing Studio in January 2023.
Then as I began my yoga teacher training, I began to discover the world of holistic healing, somatic techniques, and Reiki. Over the last year, I’ve learned, changed, grown so much. It’s been quite the journey to get to where I am today. I know that I’m not done learning so I’m excited to see where the road takes me.
I believe in holistic healing. I believe in seeing the person as a whole to heal vs. just treating symptoms with medication. I’m not against medication, of course, but in order to see true healing you need to look at the whole person. I love incorporating yoga, somatics, and reiki into my client’s practice so they can feel the true transformation in mind, body, & spirit.
I am a Somatic Coach. Again, somatics is the mind-body connection. So, we use tools like meditation, breathwork, movement, and touch to connect to the physical sensations to release traumas, emotions, stories in our subconscious. When you tap into those sensations, you can connect with the subconscious to understand what needs to be processed. When traumatic events occur, that trauma gets stored in our body, leaving us with physical pain, tension, and other sensations. We get sick, develop diseases, don’t sleep well, etc. I work 1 on 1 with my clients to release these traumas & emotions and truly heal from past experiences. It’s very powerful healing!
I am also a Reiki Practitioner which is an energy healing modality. Energy is everywhere, in everything, including us. When our energy is “off”, out of balance, or blocked, we don’t feel well. We experience dis-ease, illness, and poor immunity. Reiki balances this energy and clears any blockages that have occurred to bring my clients rest, peace, and ease. It helps with pain, inflammation, headaches/migraines, illness, and so on.. It’s so amazing to see how Reiki can bring peace to a person struggling.
We also offer massage therapy and have new services coming in the New Year to help with overall health & wellness.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I feel like I’ve been doing this my entire adult life. We are told as teenagers that we need to know exactly what we are going to be when we grow up. And then if we stumble or pivot, we feel as if we are doing something wrong. But I feel like this is completely normal.
I have my Masters in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing. I have worked in finance, marketing, HR. I started my marketing business in 2020 because I felt like that made the most sense. It’s where I had experience and a degree. I was doing what I was “supposed” to be doing – what made logical sense.
But in the back of my mind, I always knew this wasn’t 100% for me. I knew there was something else, something more.
As you do more work on yourself, as you begin to rediscover or uncover parts of you that you hid away because of family or society expectations, you realize that maybe the path you are going down isn’t a path you want to be on at all!
Allowing yourself to take the steps towards what’s right for you is so powerful. It’s very scary, but as you listen to your intuition and say yes to the scary stuff, you end up in a place that is so beautiful, in full alignment with your core self, and you end up happy.
In early 2023, I took a big pivot going from marketing to healing. Going from working with businesses to working with clients who are dealing with trauma is such a huge pivot! But because I was not afraid to say YES, I’m so much more fulfilled than I was previously.
Don’t be afraid of pivoting!! It can bring you to a very special place.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
You are a Badass by Jen Sincero The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte
Both have brought such clarity to me at different times in my life. I feel like both of these can be used/read many times as you go through life. You will get something out of these books every time.
