Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dani Kortava. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dani, appreciate you joining us today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
I have had the honor to touch so many lives, so I have witnessed some amazing transformations but a few stories truly warm my heart.
One of my clients was experiencing debilitating fear speaking in front of others. He recalls freezing while giving presentations at work as well as his speech as the best man at his friend’s wedding. His fear was continuing to grow into other areas of his life and he was ready to overcome it once and for all. So he joined a comedy program where the final was to perform, at the end of a 6 week program, in front of 200 people. As the end came closer, he became extremely nervous so he reached out to me for help. After his first session, he came out of hypnosis feeling noticeably better about his upcoming performance and after his second session he was actually excited to get on stage. When I met with him a couple of weeks after his performance, he came in smiling holding a magazine. He gifted me a copy of the article his wife wrote about him because she now considers him a rock star. He knocked it out of the park! He gives me all of the credit, but I have to disagree because the strength he brought out was all him! I simply guided that more confident version of himself to come out front and center. When I watched his performance on YouTube, actual tears formed in my eyes because I am so proud of him and was able to witness his massive transformation. I agree with his wife, a total rock star! He had been experiencing intense fear for over 20 years and to know that he overcame it within just a couple of weeks with my guidance is very fulfilling for me as a practitioner!
Another client of mine reached out to me for her fear of flying. She wanted to stop leaning on alcohol and Benadryl to get her through her discomfort. In order to fly from one side of the country to another, she would book multiple flights and schedule long layovers so she could get off the plane faster.
After a handful of sessions, she wrote me the most beautiful message. Her recent flight experienced an unusual amount of turbulence and her husband couldn’t believe his eyes as she continued listening to her hypnosis recording and eating her snack, totally calm and relaxed. It sparked an interest within him to look into how hypnosis could help him with some of his limiting experiences after witnessing how his wife transformed.
I am very proud of my google reviews because these stories are from real clients that have experienced a deep sense of personal freedom. To know that they are feeling better from the inside out and living more fulfilling lives keeps me going. I am in this for real change!
Dani, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Dani Kortava and I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist. I am also a licensed specialist in Neuro-hypnotic repatterning. So I offer effective and long lasting healing to anyone experiencing trauma, fear or any limiting beliefs in a very gentle and relaxing manner. Just about every client that has sat in my chair walks out saying “Wow, this is not what I thought it would be – this is amazing!”
I sought healing through Hypnotherapy because I spent years in traditional therapy and was still experiencing low self esteem and found myself completely consumed with negative and uncomfortable memories. It was effecting my marriage and my quality of life. This healing modality guided me towards coping in a much more effective way. And now each year continues to improve for me mentally, physically and emotionally. I am enjoying a new level of personal freedom I have never experienced before. My personal transformation sparked a passion within me. I realized that this level of healing needs to be shared with the world. I know that it is my life’s purpose to guide others!
I have been working on a lot of new projects that I am very excited about sharing. I do this work to help others and to leave a meaningful mark in this world. I noticed a common thread in most of my clients; that a lot of our struggles as adults stem from experiences in our childhood. I am very passionate about guiding our future to stepping into their personal freedom sooner and give them a fighting chance to experience a deeper level of peace and joy. So I created an incredible program called, A Heart’s Note, that guides children to heal from limiting thoughts through functional hypnotherapy that is fun! I use a lot of metaphors through stories, mixed-medium art and mindful moments.
I have also partnered with a local non-profit, called It’s The Journey, who offers resources for breast cancer survivors. We have found that after going through radiation and chemotherapy, a lot of women will lose their sense of taste. After one session, one of my clients began tasting salt again and after over a month of continued treatment she is continuing to heal and regain tasting the flavor of a growing list of foods and beverages. After 6 weeks, she has happily reported that her sense of taste is back! What a valuable sense that is our birth right. It is my honor to guide these warriors to taking back what is rightfully theirs!
Something that sets me apart from other hypnotherapists is that I am passionate about connecting to those less fortunate or those that have experienced extreme trauma. I am on a mission to do really deeply work, so when you sit in my chair there are no right or wrong answers. Zero judgements or expectations. I hear the positive intention behind any behavior and emotion. I offer a nurturing and calming environment that offers safety and security. One of my clients is an engineer and said he knew he could never be hypnotized – let’s just say that he was pleasantly surprised just how quickly he went into hypnosis and how quickly he began to experience positive changes in his life!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson that I had to unlearn is that I am not a victim of my past.
This was something that was very difficult for me to realize prior to hypnotherapy. I experienced a lot of trauma and felt as though nobody understood what I was going through, so I kept it all inside for fear of judgment. I didn’t realize how often I was reliving those painful memories and just how terribly it was affecting me to give those experiences so much power.
Hypnotherapy taught me about the mind and how it works. Put me at a better vantage point where I am able to self-reflect in a much deeper way and see things more clearly. After all, when we are calm we just make better decisions and respond to life differently.
It all began making more sense as I learned that how we think directly affects how we feel and how we feel directly affects how we behave. How we cope. How we respond. I get to choose which thoughts come in and which ones stay. And now I have the motivation and strength in making that choice because I only focus on the negative aspects of my life for purposes of problem solving and then quickly shift to seeking the silver lining in every situation. Choosing to be annoyingly optimistic is a better strategy to feeling better. So I choose to ride that positive wave as long as possible.
Every past experience taught me so much about myself. My perseverance, my strength and my capacity for love! Those painful experiences have been a direct connection to so many of my clients, where I am able to guide with compassion and kindness because I have been there!
My hypnotherapist led me out of the lowest time of my life and taught me skills that have been of great value in my life. Therefore, I consider it an honor to guide my client’s from theirs.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I decided to become a hypnotherapist, it was a total leap of faith.
I had a successful career in real estate finance for over 15 years, with my husband. Although I was quite comfortable, it was not my passion. Stepping away from that business partnership was not an easy thing to do. I would be lying if I didn’t say that there were many scary moments along the way.
This was the first time that I was committed to investing in myself and I knew that there would be emotional successes by doing so but I was also well aware of the sacrifices that would have to be made. I asked my family for their complete support and understanding as this career change called for long days, missing out on events and occasional weekend trainings during the first year.
I held onto the wisdom that most things that are difficult in life satisfy once achieved. And because my children were watching, I wanted to show them that stepping into your passion at any age can be empowering and that good things do come with focus and hard work.
This career change was the most pivotal moment of my life! Stepping into my passion, my independence, helping others and continuing to grow as an individual was worth every challenging moment!
I don’t pretend to have it all figured out but I do intend to continue serving passionately guiding others to reconnect to their peace!
