Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dani Katz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dani, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
Growing up, I was consistently told, “You can’t ONLY do what you want to do, Dani.”
It’s just one of a litany of limitations so-called authority figures tried to project onto me during my formative years/entire life.
Alas, I was born with a pronounced allergy to projected limitations, and to wasting my life force doing things I don’t want to do, in service to other people’s missions.
Don’t get me wrong; I had plenty of jobs before summoning the courage to really, truly carve my own path, my own way. But, as a hard worker with a strong sense of integrity/work ethic, I usually found myself working harder, longer and more passionately than anyone else on the job, while being supremely frustrated by all those annoying hierarchical limitations that prevented me from having as much input and impact as I really wanted to have.
Not to mention all the time that I didn’t have to put into my own creative endeavors, and my own mission.
I feel so blessed and so grateful for having figured out this beautiful career of mine, wherein I spend my days doing what I love, and what I came to this planet to do. Whether it’s writing, teaching, sharing inspiring conversations, guiding rebel badasses in embodying their fully empowered agency, or collaborating with visionary organizations transforming the world for the more wonderful, I love putting my great big, sparkly ALL into my visions, my clients, my creations and my dharma.
I can’t only do what I want to do, my ass…;)
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Because I find writing about myself about as fun as gargling glass, I am taking the liberty of sharing some highlights from my bio below.
Thought leader, trailblazer and word wizard, Dani Katz is a catalyst for evolution. Whether writing, teaching, coaching or podcasting, Dani is a fierce, heart-centered cheerleader for humanity’s freedom, empowerment and win-win solutioning.
A visionary thinker with an über-expanded perspective, Katz has devoted her career to empowering leaders, disruptors and rebel badasses with the tools, skills and confidence necessary to thrive, and to live life as conscious reality creators, instead of simply inheritors of a default reality construct over which they (think they) have no agency.
Dani’s broad spectrum of practical experience and formal studies, combined with a pronounced passion for the metaphysical, inspired her ever-deepening fascination with the energetic frequencies of words. Devoted to understanding how language programs the subconscious mind, and creates the world as we know it, Dani’s geek-a-rific investigations lead her to develop Quantum Languaging – a method of deconstructing and perfecting the myriad ways, whys and hows words shape our every human experience.
She is the author of the critically-acclaimed books Word Up: Little Languaging Hacks for Big Change and The Language of Betterarchy: A Blueprint for Uniting Against Tyranny.
A lifelong learner with an unquenchable thirst for capital-T Truth, Dani pushes every possible edge to its outermost limit – both to transform and awaken her own consciousness, as well as to pave new pathways for the brave, bold badasses she guides, teaches and supports. Dani walks her talk, and leads by example, modeling the highs and lows of the transformational path with humor, heart and authenticity, utilizing her decades of devotion to her own healing, whole-ing and awakening to best serve and support her coaching clients.
A deep-diving investigator with a keen eye for bullshit, a yen for pattern recognition, and a bold-ass voice, Dani has spent more than two decades exposing injustice, unearthing deep Truths, and helping folks safeguard and cultivate their critical thinking. As a journalist (LA Weekly, Los Angeles Times, Vice, Plandemic 2: Indoctornation) turned cultural critic/podcaster (Words Podcast, Word Up with Dani Katz) with an eye for root causes and win/win solutions, Dani doesn’t simply illuminate society’s shadows, and leave it at that; she goes the extra mile to offer solutions and action steps that empower folks to uplift and evolve their world for the better.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my social media audience organically – one follower at a time. I posted every single day, making sure to stay consistent in my messaging, as well as my aesthetic.
My advice for those starting out is to post what feels real and relevant and valuable in the moment. If you overthink it, or worry about how folks will react/judge, you’ll miss the opportunity to share your authenticity with your audience. I know so many folks who err on the side of NOT posting, because they are afraid of pissing someone off, or making an ass of themselves.
In my experience, it’s the posts I’m most afraid to put out into the world that are, consistently, the posts that are the most well-received.
You never know who needs to hear that very thing that you’re afraid to share with the world.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being authentic. Being tenacious. Continuing to hone and refine my skills, my offerings, and my communication. Staying true to myself, and continuing to show up, regardless of how I’m being received, or ignored, or shadow-banned, or adored, or what have you.
