We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dani Felt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dani, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
There are several things that I think it takes to be successful. The first is a very strong mindset.
The second is a solid plan and solid vision on what you want to do.
The third is knowing your why.
The fourth is a really strong team behind you who believes in your vision.
The fifth is being open to always learning new things and admitting you can be wrong.
The sixth is being flexible to changing things.
The seventh is great listening skills and always being open to hearing feedback from your team, your clients, and partners.
The eighth is great people skills. Being able to build relationships is one of the keys to success.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I got my start working in the music industry. In 2011, I launched a music blog to help upcoming independent artists after I returned from a PR internship in London. From there, I worked really hard and gathered about 300 interviews in a few years. After that, I co-wrote a book featuring about 100 of those interviews. At the same time, I started doing artist development and hosting music showcases and networking events. Eventually I started a second company when I moved to Nashville. With that second company I helped independent artists connect with different service providers. Then, I launched a third company four years later with my business partner Nick Caster, but we expanded to work with not only music, but also help businesses. We help with consulting and digital marketing for businesses and entertainment. My super power is relationship building, creativity, and mindset. When clients work with me, I help them get out of their own way by helping them build their self confidence, get clear on their vision, provide them with resources, tools, templates, training, and help keep them accountable to achieve their goals. What sets me apart is my relentless drive, immense positivity, and ability to connect people. I am most proud of my course I built a year back called Mindset Mastery and Network Like a Boss, along with my events I have organized, my book I wrote, and the success I have seen my clients achieve. What I want people to also know is that 90% of success starts with believing in your vision.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What I think helped build my reputation within my market is building powerful relationships with everyone I meet. I always make sure to add value to people’s lives. Whether that is sharing a connection or resource or suggestion for their business, I focus on making it about the other person and how I can help support their dreams. I also create community and bring people together, which helped me step into a leadership role. Another thing that helped is showing my knowledge and insight to help others by going on podcasts, doing interviews, doing Facebook lives, and launching courses. I also have built an email list to use as a tool to share potential opportunities with others for their careers. This helps build my value so people know they will find the right person when they come to me for something.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been through Facebook groups or live events. There is something really powerful when you can meet someone in person. There is also something really powerful when you are in Facebook communities of like-minded people and your target audience.
