We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dani Dissolve . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dani below.
Dani, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
There’s only one mission on my mind as I grow alongside the Dani Dissolve project. I want to be able to curate a safe space for one of the most disrespected, undermined, & mistreated group in society. Black women. History has show us all time & time again that our joy cannot and will not be celebrated in the eyes of most. Everything is designed for the oppressor. Many young black girls have been forced to grow up feeling undeserving of love & said safe space. I want to be able to offer that through my words as a content creator & musician. As for my modeling, I want to be able to show that young black women have a right to their femininity

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Dani Dissolve & I’m a content creator, vocalist, and published alternative model based in VA. I’ve gained a following of well over 84,000 followers on tiktok as of September 2nd, and well over 4,000 on Instagram. What started off as me making silly videos in my old apartment quickly turned into me growing a tiny community interested in who I was and what I had to offer them. Before coming a content creator, I was a very active nude/lingerie model in the local scene. Although I had a very hard time being one of the few dark skin alternative women in that space, I’m very happy with what I managed to produce despite the discrimination I was facing. I’ll never forget when it got to the point where a photographer I thought I could trust isolated & replaced me with another model…that went by the same exact name. It deterred me, but it didn’t stop me. I became a content creator a year later & then slowly started to work my way back in modeling privately after that. A year later I opened up my online store danidissolve.com alongside putting out my current music covers as an artist. I’ve been signing since I was about 18, and I just recently taught myself how to scream. Although I used to put out mini covers in high school, I dipped my toes back into the water into my adult years. What sets me apart from other public figures is that I’m real. I believe in the words that I say. I listen to myself first above all else & act accordingly. I wouldn’t have gotten this far if I didn’t listen to my own intuition. I get asked a lot how I’ve managed to gain a following the way that I did, but sometimes I don’t even know. It could be because of my look, how I speak, how I carry myself, or my vibrant contacts, but what I do know is that I have something special. Even if I may not know what it is yet. What I want my followers to know about me is that I will never feed them bullshit. My content/music is very much motivated by not only my own experiences, but the marginalized experience as a whole. That’s what you’re going to get from me. The cold truth.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There isn’t a specific story because existing in a disabled black body is about as resilient as it gets. I’ve seen it all. I’ve heard it all. I’ve been met with so much graphic violence since stepping foot on this planet, and it’s never going to end. From public humiliation, isolation, physical assault, childhood abuse, ableism, colorism, harassment- You name it, I’ve experienced it. It’s been so tense that I ended up being diagnosed with cptsd in my early 20’s. Existing is physiological warefare. You’re in constant emotional pain & you’re expected to keep a smile on your eye despite it all. Most people in my position wouldn’t last, and I am extremely proud of myself for proving that statistic wrong. My disability is very challenging to live with in so many aspects, especially given how misunderstood it is, but I’m trying to keep this project afloat.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
All of your favorite influencers & internet folks are all just social media nerds who are chronically online!! I used to run fan pages for bands that I liked when I was a teenager, and I took techniques that I learned from running those pages & applied it to my own brand. It still seems to be working so far! I’d like to think I know what people (aka Gen Z) want to see, and how they want to see it! Whenever I create content, it’s curated in a way that I personally know is going to grab attention! Not that my look isn’t already doing that for me, but there’s a specific way content needs to be presented in order for the audience that you want to stay actually stays! If I could give advice to a beginner creator, I’d tell them to make sure they’d watch their own content. Would you follow you if your face came across the fyp? You need to give yourself a chance first in order for this to work.
