We were lucky to catch up with Dani Cutler recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dani, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success to me lies in service. It’s not money. It’s not how many followers you have or how many likes or shares. It’s service. How have I helped a client? Have I shown them a new way of looking at their marketing or promotions to make it less stressful? That is my definition of success.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve always been involved in community and how best to help everyone do better. An upbringing in music has made me a good listener. In 2012 I began a digital marketing and promotions business, Dani Cutler Content Creation LLC. I’m also a radio personality, and podcaster. I recently moved from Arizona to Massachusetts!
From 2006-2012 I hosted, wrote, and produced a current events podcast called Truth Seekers. Connecting with the online community also led to voice-acting roles in audio dramas and books. From 2007-2023 I worked for KWSS Independent Radio based in Phoenix, Arizona. I was a radio host as well as the Promotions and Marketing manager for the station, along with co-managing daily operations as well as planning fundraising events.
With the continuing growth of social media, I submerged myself in the technology-based community volunteering for PodcampAZ (which became TechPhx). In 2012 I became the leader of the organizing committee, and it was very successful with over 200 attendees and 20+ speakers during the two-day event. I also spent a year organizing Brownbag presentations at Gangplank Chandler. Through these organizations I have gained insight into how social media and digital marketing works, and how best to connect with people, online and off.
In September of 2012 a friend was looking for a social media manager for her small business, and asked for my help. That was the springboard, and has led to other clients that needed the same assistance. The business grew from there. I specialize in creating content, developing marketing and promotional strategies, and even the timing of posts to gain the most engagement organically.
I provide social media management and marketing with a focus on community-building. It’s not just about advertising, it’s about connecting with your customers on a personal level. It means listening to their wants and needs, and responding to them directly. With my background in podcasting and radio I also understand the importance of various forms of communication to connect with your audience. I have experience in writing, recording, and audio editing to create quality content.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I work mainly in the music industry, helping independent artists with their online marketing and promotions. Being a part of an indie radio station certainly helped with my reputation among musicians. However, being present and following through has helped me the most. That means:
– Networking. Going to shows, meeting bands and artists, and giving them an opportunity to share their story and their music.
– Interviews, and online networking by sharing photos and videos from shows I’ve attended.
– Maintaining professionalism. Sure, the music industry is fun and very casual. But it’s important to show that you know what you’re talking about and showing them results in increased following or engagement, and bodies at their events.
This is how I earned the nickname “Scene Mom” in the local music scene in Phoenix!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
As I’ve built my reputation within the community, word of mouth has been the main source of new clients. Maintaining an online presence has also helped me find new clients. If I’m not consistent and current in my own marketing, how can I show potential clients I can help them with theirs?
