Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to D’Angelo Weston. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi D’Angelo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally since I was little. I never wanted to be a football player or doctor or lawyer. I’m not saying those aren’t great paths because they absolutely are great paths to pursue, but I have never had an interest in those. Art & creative things like acting & fashion has always sparked my interest & eventually I grew a love & a passion for them. Fashion, I would say has been the leading path that’s taking the driving seat right now in my life & currently opening up different opportunities for me. I knew I had a love for fashion for the obvious reason of I loved the reactions & compliments I get when I dress up. Also, when I’m styling a client or friend or family member I love discovering something new for them, meaning trying a new style they wouldn’t normally try & getting them into colors they never wear. I just like reshaping their minds & getting them to explore & have fun when trying on clothes. I enjoy teaching them to understand their body & understand what works for their body type. Those are some of the things that confirms my love for fashion & styling.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am from Birmingham, Alabama. Also, a graduate of Alabama State University (ASU) in Montgomery, Alabama. While attending ASU I was a theatre arts major & my focus was in costumes. I learned a lot & got to meet a lot of different wonderful people. One of my friends told me about how she would be Miss Alabama State University & how I’m going to need to style her. Of course, at this time all my friends know all about my interest in fashion & how I want to start styling people, but were just extremely nervous to start. So when my friend said I would be styling her I was most definitely happy to. She eventually won her campaign & was crowned Miss Alabama State University 2019-2020 & that ways how I got my start with styling. One of the pictures I styled her for was used all across campus for promotional purposes & I was just happy to be apart of her team & get the exposure. Eventually, I graduated, gain more confidence & even became someone assistant/intern. After the internship ended I just started reaching out to people & networking & just trying to get my name out there more. So that pretty much where I am now and of course I’ve accomplished a few more & even were apart of a wardrobe team for a movie coming out on a streaming services soon.
Currently, I am just still networking & connecting with people. I would say I’ve had a few successful moments, but I’m still working at it & defining what success means to me.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative would be just doing what makes you happy. Being able to wake up every day & be happy about the thing or work that you do is like a bonus or the jackpot of life. Having a passion for fashion, clothes, wardrobe, and styling people, in my opinion, is an act of service or an act of caring about another person. Yes, I know once you are on a bigger platform or like a celebrity wardrobe stylist then you receive a lot of money & clout or notoriety and fame but there is a sense of caring for other people in it. Well for me when I’m styling people or providing any kind of fashion service for someone it makes me happy to make someone aware of their body types, get them to embrace themselves more, & find the beauty that they already have within. Also, to just see them genuinely be happy about themselves brings me a sense of joy.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
There isn’t a particular goal or mission driving my creative journey, but I would just say I want people to embrace themselves & l love the beauty they already have within. I would just say be you & learn what makes you happy in life & don’t give up. Also, don’t compare your life journey with the next person’s journey. We all are different and have different paths in life to experience and learn from.
