We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Daneen Kreuzer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Daneen, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
We wanted to have a name that told customers EXACTLY who we are and what we do. We have unique and handmade items from over 110 local artists, and almost all of them make custom orders as well.
Daneen, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started out learning how to quilt with my Aunt Mary. Pretty soon, people were paying us to custom make quilts. After a while, we branched out to other crafts including Embroidery and Wreath Making. Eventually, we started selling in other stores, and organizing craft fairs. Finally, we decided to branch out on our own. We found the absolute most perfect location in Downtown Wadsworth. A beautiful old building with tons of space and even more character. We have been able to assemble 115 local artists and makers all under one roof. With that many Makers, we have a huge variety of products and truly have something for everyone!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My husband, Dave, and I both have worked in Healthcare for over 20 years each. After caring for others for so long, we both decided it was time to take care of our own desires for a creative outlet while still interacting with people and putting smiles on their faces.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Right after our store opened, my father-in-law became gravely ill. Since he was his wife’s caregiver, it meant both of my in-laws now need full time care. They moved in with us. We have had to adjust to care giving at home, scheduling caregivers for when are not at home and building a new business from scratch all at once!
