D’Andre, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
For Starters, about 5 years ago I was working as a front desk associate at a gym. I accepted a position at another gym a few months later being a personal trainer where I would be able to train members. From there, I started building up my clientele. I would post videos of myself training people in and outside of the gym. I began offering personal, group, and athletic training to the public. I started getting many inquiries from people to train with me. As time went on, I was able to post client results which aided me in gaining a steady group of clients on a monthly basis. I saw the potential in myself and saw that I could incorporate my skills to help others reach their fitness goals. Though I wasn’t able to play professionally when the opportunity presented itself, it does make me happy that I am able to use my skills to provide a service to the public that helps them reach their fitness and health goals.
D’Andre, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For starters, at an early age I was introduced to football. I grew love for the game and excelled over the years. With discipline I was able to learn great technique and fundamentals. In 2017, I was offered an opportunity to play professional football. At that point, I thought my dreams of playing ball professionally had come true. Unfortunately, a month prior to departure I broke my ankle in a motor bike accident. I was devastated. I was rushed to surgery where a metal rod was placed to secure my ankle. I was confined to a cast for 2 months. From there, I began physical therapy. I was able to get help through the hospital, where they would only cover 5 therapy sessions. After completing those sessions I was on my own. I didn’t let that stop me. I was determined to recover. I used what I was taught in therapy to do therapy on myself. I even did my own research to find more ways to get my ankle back to normal, to return to what I love. I dedicated myself to repairing my ankle, for what seemed like the longest 5 months in the year. I was doing self therapy while still working at the gym with a boot on my foot. Then finally, I was finally walking again without the help of the boot. This may not sound like much, but this was a major accomplishment for me. I could proudly say I did it on my own. I was able to prove to the most important person that life wasn’t over, and that I could do anything I put my mind to. That important person was me. I had to show myself what I was capable of and I use that same drive, dedication, discipline, and compassion now in my business. From there I came up with the idea to use my talents to help others reach their health and fitness goals.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clients has been posting promotions and before and after pictures on my business page.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source for new clients have been the power of word of mouth and the social media platform instagram.
