We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danaysi Castaneda. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danaysi below.
Danaysi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I took a risk. I decided to live my dreams as a single mom. Since very young I had visions that I didn’t understand and therefore feared and denied. Unspoken about, all of my life’s journey would be shown to me, and I would suppress it. Until my son was born. Then I started to trust my intuition despite the fears and the uncertainties. I decided to start taking chances even though I thought I couldn’t see the road ahead. Blindly following my intuition I transitioned into a single mom, with a new career path, and the courage to start my own business and live my life in my own terms. Rediscovering myself for the first time in 30 years, and recreating a new life full of wonder and excitement. Releasing myself from the traumas of my early childhood, and allowing my mind, body, spirit and soul to find alignment once again. It has been a challenge but I am still on the road of entrepreneurship taking all of the risks that come with the uncertainty of the journey, while learning to trust my vision and my heart. Connecting to my highest self and following my golden path with my son.
Danaysi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Danaysi. I’m originally from Pinar del Rio, Cuba, and traveled to the US as a young girl at the age of 10 after my parents won the cuban lottery to leave the country legally in 1999. I became a registered nurse in 2015, and got my BSN in 2019. Right after my son was born, in the midst of the covid pandemic my life shifted in every possible way experiencing a huge spiritual awakening that led me to join the Nurse Coach Collective to become a Transformative nurse coach. I was so drawn to this path as if it was exactly who I came here to be, a coach. But which kind? I have fallen in love with the healing journey. Not always, but I knew while I was enduring the darkest of times that I would make it through and be able to help myself. Nobody else could. It had to be me. But I had so much support. And I recognized how long I didn’t have that type of support and how many other humans also go through life so alone in their journey. I learned how much I can impact other women and men’s lives as they uproot their deepest traumas and turn it into power and energy to heal and grow. I have seen clients mend relationships with themselves, rediscovering who they are. Falling in love with their lives and reconnecting with family members, partners, their children.. Learning about their gifts and putting them into action. I have seen clients elderly clients recover from surgeries faster than a teenager and getting back on their feet, recreating new lives. I have seen my clients get to know themselves for the first time in their 40’s, 50’s, and even 70’s. I mean that is one of my greatest pleasures, to see my clients look in the mirror and have conversations with themselves in completely new ways. It has become my clear purpose to serve others and guide them on their healing journey back to who they are. While also rediscovering their gifts and potentials and putting them in action, to create a transformed version of all of their parts reintegrated. The Lunar cycle is a major part of my program too. Aligning to these energies and reconnecting to nature in this way has been powerfully magical and beautiful in the most romantic way that one can fall in love with life and the beauty that always exists in this universe that we came here to enjoy. My work has become a wonderful ride taking my clients from trauma to triumph.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn the hard way to stop blaming others for not understanding me or seeing the real me. There was so much I wasn’t comfortable with in my own life and the more I shoved it in and disconnected from it, the bigger that disconnection got between me and myself. Learning to take responsibility for the relationships that I cocreated and the ones that weren’t blooming into what I wanted it to be because of this lack of trust and fear of being judged and misunderstood. I also had to learn to care for myself differently altogether, rediscover who I am. This was specially challenging after having a baby.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Yes, I always felt that nursing was going to take me to my path. It was a roundabout way to become a healer but definitely was not the best experience, however, it did help me grow into my potential, and even showed me what else I was capable of. Each disappointment, each setback, each lack of appreciation, every struggle got me a little closer to my breaking point. Becoming a transformative nurse coach was the big picture I had been needed to become the healer that I am today.
