We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dana Watts a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dana, appreciate you joining us today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
As this might come off odd sounding since I’m partners in this business with a family member but we don’t typically discuss our business with family members as they can be very negative and discouraging, some friends as well. As much as we love our family and friends. We’d rather succeed first and then share the stories. You have to keep a positive mind set and attitude if you’re going to make it!! I personally have sold a company I built in the past and was told by a close family member “I just don’t see this as making it”. Haha

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m an entrepreneur and I created a product that happens to be a world’s first!!! It’s the World’s first floor sponge, my nephew is very driven and a successful entrepreneur so I asked him if he would partner up with me and showed him the product. He said yes let’s do this.!!! With everyone so busy this day and age and there is literally a sponge from everything from automotive to baby bottles. I said we need one for the floor, stop wasting paper towels and putting kitchen rags on the floor, which is nasty. So that’s how scrub it up was born

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
My business partner is my nephew. I came into the family when he was six years old. He grew up around me. I have seen him pivot and succeeded in situations that most people could not. I’ve had my own share of hardships with ups and downs. Determination is key to a successful business.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
We invested our own money as we were determined when we partnered up to try to create a business with little to no debt, starting small is crucial. I have talked to other entrepreneurs along our journey and they started way too large and crashed in the beginning, we wanted to avoid that at all cost
