We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dana Lagomarsino a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dana, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s go back in time a bit – can you share a story of a time when you learned an important lesson during your education?
Shortly after the 2020 shutdown, my fellow entrepreneurial friends called to talk to me about the future of their businesses. I thoroughly enjoyed brainstorming ideas with other boss babes, so I felt like this was the perfect time to return to school and refine my passion for supporting heart-centered business owners. Since completing my Masters in Business Administration (MBA), I’ve enhanced my business strategies backed with scientific research to streamline my brand and increase revenue by 300%. My experience in the wellness world has also allowed me to cope with the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. I love sharing my two decades of expertise to support our *chillzillas* aka our chill brides-to-be, and consult business owners on optimizing their businesses to live a stress-free life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
While getting ready for multiple shows per year, I happily assisted my fellow dancers with their hair and makeup while working out their knots and sore muscles. At twelve years old, I blended my passion for beauty and wellness quite organically ever since. From slipped disks to dislocations, I’ve recovered from my injuries with the help of several doctors and healers along the way. I know firsthand the importance of rehabilitation, self-care, and rest. These insights led me to major in Sports Medicine and work in the health and fitness world for years to come. Combining my passion for beauty and wellness, Just Lago is a collective of bridal hair and makeup artists who use eco-conscious products for natural glam alongside mindful and holistic practices to awaken and support our chillzillas for their wedding or elopement.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Just Lago started as a creative idea to blend wellness into the beauty community and support Brides-to-be on their wedding day. With no initial capital, I got creative, building my business from scratch. Slowly, I began acquiring education on entrepreneurship while purchasing affordable supplies. Working full time, I drove all over to meet brides, worked on styled shoots, and connected with people in the industry. Long days and nights, but realistic before launching into full entrepreneurship. There are several moments when I take leaps and make substantial financial investments. Those moments are scary but worth it. Entrepreneurship is all about facing your fears and moving past doubt. With risk comes rewards. We’ve gone from nine weddings to a successful, six-figure business. My advice? Invest in your health and education and live a minimalistic lifestyle so you can focus your time and money on/into your business. Don’t forget to celebrate the big and small moments and take time for yourself.
