We recently connected with Dana Halliburton and have shared our conversation below.
Dana, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
“FIT4MOM is the nation’s leading prenatal and postnatal fitness program, providing fitness classes and a network of moms to support every stage of motherhood. From pregnancy, through postpartum and beyond, our fitness and wellness programs help make moms strong in body, mind, and spirit.”
We like to say that our moms come for the workout but stay for the community. We’re more than a workout. FIT4MOM is so much more than that. It’s community in motherhood through village playdates, coffee meetups, mom’s night out, celebrating one another throughout every milestone in our journey. It’s making sure every mom feels welcomed, listened to, a safe space to open her heart & mind while being a part of a mom village that supports you through every stage.
Before I took ownership of FIT4MOM Temple | Belton | Salado, I joined as a member in March of 2020. I was invited by the owner when I was 7 months pregnant, and I didn’t take her up on her offer until after my son was a year old. My biggest regret? Not joining when I was invited. The first year postpartum is incredibly isolating, emotionally draining and constantly at war with yourself. I was lost, suffering postpartum and this group of women truly pulled me out from the waves of postpartum depression & anxiety.
My mission? To do the same for other women who need a mama village to support them through the highs and lows of motherhood. FIT4MOM changed my view on motherhood and saved my physical, mental and emotional health. When the chance to lead this group of amazing women presented itself, I was scared to take the leap. However, this group changed my life and I wanted to be that person for other moms to lean on.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My FIT4MOM journey began when I joined as a member in March of 2020–right before the world shut down because of Covid. I was lost in motherhood and needed to find & feel like myself again. I struggled postpartum and when I say this group changed my life, I wholeheartedly mean it. I have never felt more seen, heard, supported and loved than when I joined this mama village. They truly offered support & community through every stage of my journey as a mom.

FIT4MOM Temple/Belton/Salado offers more than just a workout. We offer community in motherhood through our stroller based, Mommy & Me workouts in local parks, coffee dates, free weekly playdates, bi-annual moms trips, book clubs, field trips and so much more. Our moms come for the workouts but stay for the community.
We bridge the gap between commercial gyms and the struggle off working out at home or not having childcare. You don’t have to worry about leaving your children with a stranger in a gym, constantly worrying if they’re crying, behaving or being neglected. We offer mommy & me stroller fitness classes where we encourage our moms to bring their children along! How do we keep them in the stroller AND happy? With FUN4BABY! We take educational kids songs and put movements to them to keep them entertained, engaged and happy. As well as blowing all the bubbles, interacting with our kids & singing along, they stay busy snacking, playing and witness their moms choose to be healthy!
If a mom has school age or older children, we also encourage them to come to stroller classes sans kids! As well as stroller classes, we offer “mom-only” classes where our moms get to focus on themselves for an hour. What about the dads? Well, we offer Family classes on Saturdays to get the whole fam bam involved!
When we say #AllTheMoms, we mean it. Because there is #CommunityInMotherhood.
There are over 200 FIT4MOM franchises across the US and more than 2,000 class locations. You can find your nearest village at FIT4MOM.COM
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Honestly, staying true to myself, being open about my struggles while creating a safe space where moms feel welcome, has helped me build my reputation within my community. I’ve created a business community within my FIT4MOM village where we partner, support and have an open line of communication to grow our relationships.
My market is very niche. So, with that in mind, allowing myself to be my authentic self is what attracts others to our mama village. They feel seen, heard and safe because they’re surrounded by a village who knows exactly what they’re going through, feeling and they know they’re not alone–they have a community supporting them through all the highs & lows.
Don’t try to be somebody you’re not. You’ll end up failing and disappointing yourself. Stand in your vulnerability and stay true to your authentic self.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I took over my franchise, I knew social media was going to be a pillar of marketing to our moms. Alot of the time, all you see on social media is the good, the fun and a mask of reality. I’ve always been an advocate of transparency on social media. It allows you to connect with your audience in a way most other businesses or people can’t. If they don’t see your full personality shine through and see the real you, how can you expect them to trust you, much less purchase or invest in you & your business?
I created a curated Instagram feed where I post a reel, infographic and photo from our classes. With this type of content, I’m able to stay accountable with myself and stay engaged with my moms, my followers and potential clients.
Through my Instagram (@fit4mom.temple.belton.salado) I’m able to show my true authentic self–the highs, the lows, the goofy/silly side and everything in between. It connects me with other moms who may be going through the same things I did postpartum, pregnant or just trying to find your footing in motherhood.
Again, stay true to yourself and the best version of you will attract your clients.
