Dana , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, one thing many business owners consider is donating a percentage of revenue or profits to an organization or cause. We’d love to hear your thoughts and the story behind how and why you chose the cause or organization you donate to.
As the founder of the Dana Carmel Group, Silicon Valley’s Go-to Real Estate Agency, and parent of three school aged sons I quickly realized how integral our school districts are to our neighborhoods and their real estate value. Our public schools rely on Foundation support to provide quality education. Funds raised provide additional teachers, specialists, programs, and tools that make our schools extraordinary places for learning. That why I started the Make the Move Program in 2021, to give back to our local community. With each home bought or sold my clients can designate a donation of up to $5,000 to support the school district of their choice.
This donation benefits both homes values and school districts. A report by the National Bureau of Economic Research titled, “Using Market Valuation to Assess Public School Spending,” found that for every dollar spent on public schools in a community, home values increased by about $20.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
There is no one “best” strategy for growing a real estate business, as different strategies will work better for different businesses in different markets. However, here are a few of the strategies that have worked best for my business:
Networking: Building relationships with other professionals in the industry, such as mortgage brokers, home inspectors, and contractors, can be a great way to generate referrals
Online and Off-Line Marketing: Utilizing search engine optimization (SEO) and other online marketing techniques such as social media and video to reach a wider audience and attract new clients help establish you as a trusted and knowledgeable resource in the industry, attracting potential clients and building trust with your target audience.
Community involvement: Becoming involved in the local community, such as through volunteer work and sponsoring events, helped build my brand and generate leads from local residents.
Ultimately, the most effective strategy for growing your real estate business clientele will depend on factors such as your target market, your unique strengths as a business, and the competitive landscape of your local market.
