We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Damond Nixon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Damond, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.

I believe that no stone should be left unturned. Magic is everywhere. Area44 is purely based on creation. Focusing on the creator within is why Area44 is different. Our starting point is far from where the standard is. Right and wrong does not exist within our community. Area44 is goal oriented. Our goals are to ensure the evolution and growth of everyone who joins. One cannot grow in the midst of unnecessary violence, negativity, or hatred.

Damond, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Area44 started as a music production venture. It is now a multimedia company/record label. Music has been around since the beginning of time and it is not going anywhere. We need music, let us all face it. Collaboration is the key to success here. Even your favorite artists looked up to someone at some point. Building out list of collaborators is our main goal here at Area44. We believe in our power as well as the power of others.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

I slammed my laptop down on the ground and it still worked. This was a sign of my laptop’s resilience. I did not want to quit but I had been frustrated and thought I did. This was earlier in the journey and I laugh at this every chance I get.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

Youtube University is number 1 on my list.
