Damon, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Well my son Jordon’s nickname is J Bud. He was born handicapped and we decided to name it after him to leave him a legacy while we are here and when we are no longer here. He will never work or will never have a family of his own so that was the main reason to name it after him.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started playing around with BBQ when I was younger because of family cookouts and get togethers. I had a uncle that always insisted on doing all the cooking every chance he got and I loved that about him and my goal was to be just as good as him one day or even better. So when my skills got up to par years later me and my wife started catering and was blessed to get booked with family reunions and weddings and what not. After 5 or so years of doing that and selling food from home we jumped out on faith and purchased a food truck. So after being on the food truck now for almost 7 months, it’s going very well and we are improving everyday, with the customer service, timing and as well as the food…
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Well I met my cofounder/business partner almost 30 years ago in a nightclub. We hit it off instantly, I loved her business insights and determination and she became my best friend. So that is why I married her 24 years ago.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I feel the most effective strategy for growing clientele is consistency. Everyday you aren’t going to be perfect but if we can get extremely close to being consistent every single time out, we can grow into where we wanna be.
