We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Damisha Logan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Damisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea of being a license esthetician , with learning how to apply strip lashes. Let me give a little detail so after having kids a lot of features of mine changed which made me not feel as beautiful as I once did before so I started trying to figure out how I could bring out the beauty in myself again I always had a baby face no eyebrows very little lashes and I started getting into the whole lash and brow thing in 2017 started getting my lashes done played around drawing my brows on was horrible lol 2019 did micro shading and fell in love after that I learned how to apply lash strip during Covid 2020 and it kinda boosted my ego and I decided to take a lash class and started doing extensions and selling lash strips did my first pop up shop and I just didn’t feel like it was enough I wanted to do more I wanted to help people who felt they way I did feel beautiful again me and a friend talked about beauty school I did my research and enroll this was more then a money thing for me this was something I felt deep down and experience personally I know I wasn’t the only person to feel that way after kids so I wanted to offer services that could bring that feeling of beauty back
Damisha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Misha I’m a mother of two I have best of both worlds. I got into this industry because of my daughter who is a diva but also the start of my changing. I’m a licensed esthetician I specialize in custom facials ,waxing ,brows ,lashes & massages I also make my own skin care,body care products and lipgloss all by hand all natural . The problems I solve for my clients is curing all physical problems that makes them insecure and giving them confidence again. What sets me apart from everyone else is I do this because its something I’m passionate about my goal is to help with self love and self care it’s not about just money with me. What I’m most proud of is the results my product and services do for people and the fact I stuck to what makes me happy. I would like for my clients and followers to know I’m very appreciative for all the support feed back and love and that my services aren’t just for women i care for my men also.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
How I put together my initial capital I needed to start my business was working a 9-5 and learning how to budget
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
My favorite marketing was and always will be pop up shops I’ll spend $50-$200 dollars to apart of a pop up shop and not make anything or only make $20 but it was a way to get my business out there meet new people my favorite one was this one when a person who I met from another pop up who also sold lashes reached out asked me to be apart of her not thinking much into it I agreed I believed i paid $100 got there had assigned tables and she had me in the back corner behind a clothing vendor lol it was the first time I felt defeated but I was determined to get my business out I walked around gave simples made my money back and left but I didn’t give up and i didn’t let that stop me from doing other pop up shops
