We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Damaris Ryland. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Damaris below.
Damaris, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
The idea for IGS.WEAR wasn’t something I rushed into—it was a vision that developed over three years. For a long time, I felt this urge to create something that reflected confidence, sensuality, and authenticity—something deeper than just clothing. IGS.WEAR, my luxury underwear brand, was born out of countless late nights spent thinking, praying, and writing in journals. I would jot down names, sketch designs, brainstorm taglines, and dream about how I wanted people to feel wearing my products.
That three-year process was filled with self-discovery and spiritual alignment. I wanted the brand to represent more than just underwear—I wanted it to be about identity, self-worth, and owning your power. Once I finally committed to the execution, I started with branding. I locked in the name, created a logo, secured social media accounts, and researched what it would take to bring the idea to life.
From there, I dove into sourcing, testing product samples, and learning everything from packaging to pricing. It wasn’t easy—I had to figure out manufacturing, build a website, create content, and get comfortable marketing myself and my vision. IGS.WEAR became real through consistency, prayer, and trust in God’s timing.
Looking back, I’m proud that I didn’t rush it. Every step led me to a clearer purpose, and now IGS.WEAR stands as a bold, unapologetic expression of everything I believe in. It’s only the beginning, but launching this business has been one of the most powerful decisions I’ve made.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Damaris, also known as The GLOSSPRENEUR. I’m a college student, entrepreneur, and the proud founder of IGS.WEAR, a luxury underwear brand created to inspire confidence, self-love, and individuality. My journey into entrepreneurship started from a place of purpose—I’ve always had a passion for creating and building things that empower people from the inside out.
IGS.WEAR was in the making for over three years before I officially launched. During that time, I poured my heart into planning, journaling, researching, and praying over every detail. I wanted this brand to reflect more than just stylish underwear—I wanted it to represent boldness, comfort, and self-expression.
In addition to IGS.WEAR, I also run two other businesses that continue to grow as I manage school and life as a full-time student. Balancing business and college has taught me resilience, strategy, and the importance of trusting God’s timing. I show up every day not just as a business owner, but as a visionary committed to building something meaningful.
As The GLOSSPRENEUR, I take pride in being a multi-faceted creator and leader. What sets me apart is my intentionality—everything I create comes from a place of passion, purpose, and authenticity. I want people to know that if I can do it while being a student, they can too. My brands are just the beginning of a much bigger vision, and I’m excited to keep growing and glowing—faith first, always.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
About two years ago, I was preparing to officially launch IGS.WEAR, and I thought I was finally ready. I had been planning and praying on this brand for three years, and the vision felt solid. But as I tried to move from planning to execution, everything started falling apart. Shipments were delayed, the vendor I had been relying on became unresponsive, and financially, things weren’t lining up the way I had hoped. It felt like every time I got close to launching, something would go wrong. I was overwhelmed, disappointed, and questioning if I was even supposed to pursue this at all.
That season forced me to pivot—not just in terms of logistics, but mentally and emotionally. I had to shift from thinking everything had to be perfect or happen on my timeline, to trusting God’s timing and purpose. I also had to re-evaluate who I was working with, create backup plans, and most importantly, give myself grace. I stopped trying to control every piece and started focusing on building the foundation with more patience and faith.
That pivot helped me grow so much as a businesswoman and a person. It taught me that delays don’t mean denial, and sometimes things fall apart so better things can come together. It wasn’t just a business shift—it was a heart and mindset shift that prepared me for the real work and growth that came later.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that if things don’t go smoothly, then maybe it’s not meant for me. I used to think that if I ran into too many obstacles, that was a sign to stop or that I wasn’t ready. That belief came from fear—fear of failure, fear of looking unprepared, and fear of not living up to my own expectations.
Back when I first tried to launch IGS.WEAR two years ago, nothing was going as planned. I felt like I kept hitting walls, and I started to internalize those setbacks as a reflection of my worth and ability. I thought, “Maybe this isn’t for me.” But over time, I realized that challenges don’t mean you’re off track—they mean you’re being shaped for the next level. I had to unlearn the belief that things should always be easy when you’re doing what you’re called to do.
Now I understand that resistance often comes before breakthrough. Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s not yours. That unlearning helped me grow not just in business, but in my faith, patience, and resilience. I stopped looking for comfort and started embracing the process—and that’s what transformed me.
