Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dalton Jensen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dalton, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
The short answer is yes. I do wish I could have started my creative career sooner.
I started my podcast in January 2020 and quickly realized this creative journey was for me. I picked up everything quickly, from video and audio production to interviewing and sourcing my guests.
Starting earlier for me would have probably meant a whole different life trajectory. I hold a Bachelor’s in Accounting and a Master’s in Business Administration, but if I had started sooner, I might not hold either of those degrees because I knew right away that I had something unique with my newly discovered talents.
During my experience interviewing over 200 successful business owners, I’ve learned that everything happened how it was supposed to, and I’m a better creative for it.
Dalton, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Dalton Jensen; I am the host of The Thinking Project podcast and the owner of Aloha Views, a Sales and Business Development consulting company.
I have been in sales for over 10 years, and now I help people connect with their dream clients through community and empathy.
Connection is what consumers are craving now. Customers are more likely to do business with you if they feel you share the same values and mission as them.
I believe that sales and marketing help you gather the right audience and clients by allowing your values to shine. Through the proper messaging and sales process, you can connect with people who want to do business with you, and that’s what I help you do.
I have helped over 50 startups and entrepreneurs learn the art of selling without them or their clients feeling “salesy.” Having the confidence that you’re doing the right thing for the right reason is the key to a successful sales process, and through my podcast and consulting, I’ve helped each of those companies do precisely that.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
The future. I don’t believe that NFTs are a fad, I believe makings millions off NFTs might be a fad, but the technology behind those NFTs is revolutionary.
A core value of mine is to build through community engagement. Building an engaging and caring community begins with shared values and missions and NFTs can help gather people in that way.
An NFT isn’t just a piece of art, it’s how the everyday creative can build a strong community through technology and skip the middle man.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
The book that changed the way I thought about business and life was The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson.
That is a book I read every year to help me remember my values. Entrepreneurship isn’t about not caring what other people think. It’s about who/what you place the most value in and then acting accordingly.
If you could only read one book that could help you understand the importance of establishing values early on, it’s this book. A “must-read” for every entrepreneur.
