Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dalma Daniela. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dalma, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Risk is the cousin of change. Risks make us feel anxious and unsure. But nothing that truly matters and transforms our lives will ever feel safe. That’s the payoff of taking a risk. If it makes you uncomfortable, it means it will make you grow, because growth is never easy.
I have taken risks all my life, but that doesn’t mean it gets easier with time. It doesn’t. What helps me is visualizing myself taking the risk; it gives me the courage and the confidence to do it. I also believe that doing things at your own pace is part of the secret sauce and something that often gets overlooked or ignored.
I was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, and I moved to Los Angeles only two years ago. I had this dream since I was 15. That’s half of my life – and even though most of the reasons for not taking that risk earlier had to do with money and all the challenges and flaws in an immigration process from a country like mine – I will say taking my time to grow, make mistakes, start businesses, get my heart broken, be a rock singer and artist entrepreneur in Barranquilla, and save as much as I possibly could to move to LA, was what prepared and empowered me to take that risk, and now I’m sitting here with you, talking about it, about to travel to the Orlando International Film Festival because of The Sovereign, a feature film I’m a lead in, and that’s directed by Farah Ysvette Mourad Vera, another strong, independent, smart immigrant from Venezuela, and finishing the post-production of Lime & Vinegar, another feature I star in and produced, directed by Evan Snyder and whose character he wanted to be inspired by my life in Colombia and being an immigrant.
Taking risks makes the full circle happen.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a self-made multipotentialite based in Los Angeles. I teach people to pursue multiple passions and amplify their success by rocking their social media game. As a digital marketer and social media strategist, I have helped brands in the US, and Colombia boost their online visibility and achieve their business objectives by creating and implementing customized social media strategies that have enhanced their engagement, conversions, and revenue from social and more importantly, improved the image they projected to their target audience.
As an actress and producer, I have used my social media influence to promote the projects that have cast me as an actress and launched successful crowdfunding campaigns that have funded the entire pre and postproduction of my latest feature film.
Social media is the new frontier. My content strategies are crafted to ensure your potential followers enjoy the vibe of your profile with every scroll. And now, I’m finally going to be able to teach that to people through my SuperClass: How to be successful on social without having to go viral.
I wanted to create the only content system business owners, personal brands, or artists who feel pressure and anxiety about what to post will ever need for their social media. A practical guide for them to become successful on social and get exactly what they want: brand awareness, conversions, bookings, reach, and authority without having to go viral, have big numbers, or invest a lot of money.
You see, only 1.1% of social videos go viral, and when they do, most of the time, they generate reach, NOT sales. And the thing is, when you focus on creating viral content, you burn out easily and get discouraged because you focus on the outcome, not the process, and why you’re doing this in the first place. So I said, no more of that. It’s time to destroy the myth and drop viral content off the pedestal. In my SuperClass, you’ll learn:
How to be found by those who matter when it matters.
How to create a social media strategy that works for you.
How to post with purpose and provide value to your audience on autopilot.
How to leverage your social media presence to grow your business and personal brand in the real world (where it actually matters)

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, and weirdly enough, I journaled about it today. The goal or mission driving my creative journey is to use all my talents to serve people with love and not with fear. I want to give back as much as possible while doing what I love and living a life that fully aligns with my values and purpose. I want to lead people by that example. Because we can all have that, it’s just a matter of being honest about who we are, what we want, and putting in the work.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
It starts with the little things. If you see a creative or someone (anyone!) pursuing a creative endeavor, if you don’t fully understand their journey or have nothing constructive to say: stay quiet.
Don’t say anything. This aligns with the other question regarding what non-creatives struggle to understand about creatives. I think it’s a left-brain, right-brain thing most of the time. Depending on which side is our dominant, we WILL see things differently. It’s a fact.
So, don’t ask questions like, “Are you getting paid for that?” or say things like, “Don’t drop that other job, though” – That is just so tacky and ignorant because you don’t know what the creative lifestyle entails or how it actually works.
Just as we’re not supposed to ask lawyers or doctors how much they make, society should start having more etiquette and respect for their creators. At the end of the day, we’re the ones who bring you all the entertainment you consume in any media. So, stop, think before you speak, and say thank you instead :)
