We recently connected with Dallin Willden and have shared our conversation below.
Dallin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
As a new father, I’ve gotta hand it to my folks—they really nailed it when it came to introducing me to the great outdoors. Because of my parents, so much of my early years were spent roaming around Yellowstone and Teton National Park like they were my backyard playground.
Instead of being cooped up indoors, I was out there soaking in every sunrise, hiking every trail, and marveling at the majesty of nature. It wasn’t just about visiting these places; it was about truly experiencing them. My parents made sure of that.
They didn’t just show me the sights; they taught me to appreciate the little things—the way the sunlight filters through the leaves, the wildlife making their way through the brush, the sound of a rushing river, the scent of pine after a rainstorm. It’s these kinds of details that really stick with me.
Their approach wasn’t just about fostering a love for nature; it was about nurturing my creative side too. They encouraged me to see the world through a lens (pun intended), to capture those moments that resonated with me on a deeper level.
So yeah, I owe a lot to my parents for giving me such an awesome upbringing. Thanks to them, I’ve got such a deep-rooted connection to the outdoors that fuels my passion for digital photography, especially when it comes to snapping those epic landscapes and outdoor portraits. It’s like they set me on this path without even realizing it. I hope to be able to provide the same for my little one!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Photography has been my passion since my high school days, where I first started by capturing senior portraits for friends and classmates. However, it wasn’t until a transformative trip to Europe that I truly fell head over heels for the art form.
Exploring the diverse landscapes and bustling cityscapes of Europe with my camera in hand opened my eyes to the power of visual storytelling. It was then that I realized my calling lay in capturing the natural beauty of our world.
Since then, I’ve specialized in landscape photography, drawn to the challenge of distilling the grandeur of nature into a single frame. Whether it’s the rugged peaks of a mountain range or the tranquil serenity of a secluded forest, I strive to convey the awe-inspiring essence of the outdoors in every shot.
But my journey didn’t stop there. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with breweries and local businesses, using my photography to showcase their products in the most captivating light. I’ve also ventured into the world of real estate photography, where my keen eye for detail has helped to highlight the unique features of properties and spaces.
What sets me apart, I believe, is my unwavering commitment to both technical excellence and creative innovation. I approach each project with a meticulous attention to detail, striving to capture images that not only look beautiful but also tell a compelling story.
I take immense pride in the relationships I’ve built with my clients and the impact my work has had on their projects and businesses. There’s something incredibly rewarding about knowing that my photography has played a role in elevating their brands and telling their stories to the world.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs have truly captured my fascination, particularly as a techie and cybersecurity enthusiast. The underlying technology that supports them is nothing short of revolutionary. However, I can’t help but express a concern: their accessibility may lead to an oversaturation in the market, potentially bewildering the average buyer.
As someone deeply invested in the creative realm, I fear that the sheer volume of digital photographs flooding the NFT space could overshadow the truly exceptional works. Many talented artists might find themselves lost amidst the deluge.
Yet, from a collector’s perspective, the concept of proof of ownership offered by NFTs is undeniably intriguing. It adds a layer of authenticity and exclusivity to digital art that was previously unprecedented.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
“Atomic Habits” by James Clear has been an absolute game-changer for me. As someone who tends to get overwhelmed by an ever-expanding to-do list, this book has been invaluable in helping me not only manage my photography endeavors but also cultivate positive habits across all aspects of my life. This book gets a 10/10 from me!
