We were lucky to catch up with Dalit Agronin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dalit, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My mom put me in dance classes at the local Jewish Community Center in Mid-Westchester, where she was working at time. Mainly it was to keep me busy while she was working but since then I haven’t stopped dancing. I honestly never thought about any other option and when I moved to NYC right after college in 2016, I moved here knowing I had to make it work and I would take any odd job to be able to pursue my creative career.

Dalit, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Once I moved to NYC in 2016 right after college I tried to find my groove into the dance scene. I did not have my support or guidance from my college so I went into it kind of blind. I started finding teachers I liked to take classes from, auditioned for performances and made friends with other dancers and from there I started creating. After my first year of a lot of random jobs I got into personal training. It was nice to be able to work in fitness as a dancer because I had access to free gyms. I started work study at dance studios so classes would be less expensive and I had shows in local bars, smaller venues and anywhere I could get my hands on. I’ve been living in NYC for 9 years now, about 5 years ago I became a yoga instructor and that really helped to deepen my mind-body connection and understand how healing movement can be. I think my background sets me apart from others in this industry, I work with clients in their teens all the way to their 90s and my focus is primarily movement that feels good, grounds us and centers in our breathe. My yoga classes incorporate both my strength and dance background and my choreography vice versa.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I would say about 3 years ago my mission moved to creating joyful movement. There is so much in our world that takes us out of our joy and my theory is if we can meet eachother in our joy we can meet eachother in our sorrow and from that anything is possible.

show up and support!!! there is not enough funding for the arts espcially for more emerging creators and we need you to help keep us going and creating.
