We were lucky to catch up with Dalila & Aaron Copeland recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dalila & Aaron, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Create New Patterns was inspired by our personal journey to find true happiness, overcome the not-so-positive things in life, and make true well-being something everyone can achieve.
Over our 20+ years together, we realized just how transformative mindfulness practices can be—not just for surviving, but for actually thriving. Looking back, we often think, “If only we’d known back then what we know now about taking care of ourselves holistically—mind, body, and spirit—life would have been so much easier.” Simple practices like meditation, deconditioning, naturopathic health, and Ayurveda can have such a profound effect on your life, yet they’re not always easy to find or fit into a busy schedule.
Our mission with Create New Patterns is to empower people to weave these positive, life-changing practices into their daily lives so they can unlock real happiness and inner peace.
In practical terms, we’re here to help you break out of negative patterns and create a future that aligns with your deepest goals and values. We focus on shifting your mindset, living with intention, and building resilience. It’s all about turning inward through meditation, breaking old habits, and manifesting the life you actually want. Because everyone deserves a way out of that “stuck” feeling and into a life filled with calm, joy, and purpose.
WHY THIS MISSION MATTERS TO US
This mission is super personal for us. If we’d known about these tools and techniques 20 years ago, we could’ve saved ourselves a ton of unnecessary stress and unhappiness. Like so many people, we were stuck managing symptoms—both physically and emotionally—without ever getting to the root of what was really going on. That cycle of “fixing” things on the surface just led to more medications, side effects, and never-ending stress.
We kept thinking, “I’ll be happy when…(insert a million things here).” But the truth is, nothing external could change how we felt on the inside. It took some big decisions, like Aaron walking away from his VP-level corporate job that was physically and mentally draining him, and Dalila deciding to face the struggles of depression and anxiety at the root, to realize we needed real, effective ways to heal from within.
So now, through Create New Patterns, we’re on a mission to make that kind of transformation possible for others. We’re here to share the tools, insights, and mindset shifts we wish we’d had so many years ago—tools that help you live a life that’s actually fulfilling.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
ABOUT US & OUR BRAND Our journey kicked off with discovering meditation as a way to ease anxiety and stress. At first, it was just a tool to cope (like a mental band-aid). But slowly, we realized it had the power to transform so much more in our lives—from dramatically improving our marriage to finding clarity in our careers. The real “aha” moment was recognizing that the biggest obstacles to happiness weren’t out there in the world—they were right in our heads, in the form of beliefs like “I’ll be happy when…”.
With Create New Patterns, our goal is to share our journey through our podcast, blog, and a range of tools designed to support real, lasting change. We provide resources like self-help worksheets, affirmation reminders, meditation techniques, and all kinds of positive encouragement that anyone can use to make meaningful changes in their life.
And yes, we even have a line of products—from clothing to yoga accessories—each with supportive messages to help you stay focused on your growth and well-being every single day.
The biggest challenges we help people tackle are finding calm in a chaotic world, being present, and embracing a mindset where happiness is right here, right now—not some far-off goal. By giving people strategies to turn down life’s noise and create space for themselves, we’re helping them develop the mindfulness needed to live intentionally and joyfully.
What sets us apart is our mix of experiences. As a couple married for 20 years, Dalila’s immigration journey, Aaron’s Marine Corps background, overcoming poverty, being first-generation high school and college graduates, and clawing our way out of debt—these are things that resonate with so many people on a deeply personal level. Sure, our story won’t connect with everyone, but for those who see a bit of their journey in ours, we offer a connection and a perspective that goes way beyond generic advice. And if you tune in to our podcast, you might find yourself laughing along with us at some of the ridiculous things we’ve done—because, trust us, we’ve made our share of mistakes along the way.
WHAT WE’RE MOST PROUD OF
The moments that mean the most to us are hearing that we’ve actually helped someone create real, positive changes in their life. It may seem like a small thing, but it’s incredibly powerful. Recently, we connected with a listener who felt stuck and discouraged in her career, totally unsure if she could ever build a life she loved. Using some of the mindfulness practices and deconditioning techniques we share, she found the confidence to make that leap.
Stories like hers are exactly why we do this—to empower people to break free from limiting patterns and step into lives filled with purpose, joy, and peace just as we have.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons we had to unlearn was that we needed to live perfectly in order to share our insights on mindfulness and positivity. Early on, we were constantly worrying, “Are we practicing what we preach 100% of the time?” Spoiler alert… we weren’t. There were days we missed meditation sessions or slipped back into old habits.
We used to think if we weren’t perfectly consistent, we weren’t “qualified” to speak to others about these practices. But here’s the thing—we’re human, just like everyone else. And that’s the whole point.
What we’ve realized is that it’s our imperfections that make our journey relatable. It’s the messy parts of our story that allow us to connect with others who are also trying to create new, positive patterns in their lives. So, the biggest takeaway was this: share your story, no matter how imperfect it feels, because someone out there needs to hear it.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One of the most impactful business books for us was Start with Why by Simon Sinek. It totally flipped our approach to business on its head, showing us that the best companies don’t just focus on “creating shareholder value” or making money. They’re driven by a deep-rooted purpose. For us, that purpose is helping people make positive, lasting change in their lives. This book helped us get super clear on our mission, reminding us that while money is necessary, it’s not the reason we do what we do.
We’ve also been deeply influenced by non-business books that shape our personal philosophies. A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle taught us the power of presence. Ram Dass’s Be Love Now reminded us that compassion and love are the most powerful forces. And Dr. Joe Dispenza’s You Are the Placebo opened our eyes to the incredible impact of meditation and mindset on both physical and mental well-being.
These books helped us build Create New Patterns into something that’s not just about what we do, but how we show up—for ourselves and for the people we serve.
