We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dali Parker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dali below.
Alright, Dali thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
We have a long way to go in terms of breaking Barries in many industries, not just mine which is craft beer, but so many industries that require a true dive down in terms really opening doors and removing barriers so that all can get in. I am lucky that I get to live in a country where I can fulfill my career wishes and desires, however we still live in a world where many women still do not get to pursue this. What does this mean to me? It means acknowledging my place at the table. Not being shy about my voice or what I get to bring up and discuss. A lot of the times, everyone is eager to meet my husband as we are in a male dominated industry, however I consider myself- along with our whole team- the true force behind what our business is and does and what we accomplish together collectively as the small team we are, full of heart and a very driven mindset.

Dali, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are Chula Vista Brewery, the only Black (& Brown) owned brewery in San Diego County , out of over 160+ registered breweries here in our city. We are a woman led, veteran ran company with one of the few Latino brewers in the country, Ignacio Cervantes.
We focus on creating small scaled hand batches of artisan beer to meet our communities demand. We brew on site at both of our locations, and when you walk into either of our breweries, you will see a true reflection of what our neighborhoods are.
My husband who served our country proudly for 20 years, traveled the world with the US Navy and I was at home, ensuring that the Homefront was stable, we realized that beer brought people of all backgrounds together. We noticed that our particular community lacked representation in craft beer- no one was bringing it to our particular neighborhoods- therefore we created it for ourselves, to share with all.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Persistence is key when you are an entrepreneur. What separates you from others if simply not quitting, not stopping, but rather creating a sense of consistency in your work, your drive and determination.
At the end of day, no matter how hard or challenging and deflating the day was- as my husband says, we get to have a beer and realize the day we had is all perspective from what we are internalizing.
Resilience to me is simply not stopping. When you have a mission in mind, you need to have goals and stay focused. These goals you set for yourself will give you the resiliency you are looking for when you take small steps actively each day to fulfill those goals.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson 2022 taught me early on in the beginning of the year, middle of the year and kept knocking at me until it received my full attention.
