We were lucky to catch up with Dale Cizmadia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dale thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I think everyone has that one ‘aha’ moment, but for me, I’ve been lucky enough to experience three. The first was when I was just two or three years old, walking out of E.T. and starting to cry. I didn’t fully understand why, but the film had such an emotional impact on me. The second was at 13, seeing a performance of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Cleveland Playhouse. I left the theater feeling inspired, and it hit me—if I could create something that made others feel the way I did that night, I’d be fulfilling some deeper purpose. And the third was watching Clerks. It was a game-changer. Seeing people talk like my friends and me on the big screen completely shifted how I thought about movies. So my work draws from this blend of magical realism, showtunes, and that raw, relatable dialogue you see in Kevin Smith’s films. If you look at the shorts I’ve created, you’ll find those influences woven throughout

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got my start in the industry through video editing while living in New York. It began with me editing party videos of my friend group, which were good enough to land me some early gigs. Those opportunities eventually evolved into full-time video producing. At Film Loft, we offer services on both sides of the aisle. On one side, we focus on creating affordable, high-quality, people-forward explainer videos for small businesses. There’s nothing more powerful than having an owner, creator, or maker talk about their passion. On the other side, you’ll find our more creative work—short films and film production.
What sets Film Loft apart is our attention to the human side of storytelling. Whether it’s a corporate explainer or a pivotal moment in a film where the music swells, we always search for that kernel of truth. I’m especially proud of the volume of work we’re able to produce without sacrificing quality. We’re a people-first organization—community-minded and fiercely creative problem solvers. Whether it’s helping your small business or telling magical, impactful stories through film, we’re here to make it happen.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Show up. Buy the band tee or that small piece of art. Share your friend’s film. Support museums and art institutions. Share, like, and subscribe until your thumbs fall off—because every bit of exposure matters, both emotionally and, more often than not, business-wise.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Creating something from nothing. Being the vehicle for original ideas. Collaboration.
