We recently connected with Daja Thomas and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Daja, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I currently work in the Aviation and Aerospace industry and have recently embarked on the journey of starting my own business. The mission behind this endeavor is deeply personal; it stems from my desire to honor my late mother and advocate for my children. My mother faced significant challenges in her life and, unfortunately, did not have the opportunity to share her story or fully realize her potential. This lack of support affected her mentally and spiritually.
I am committed to breaking the cycle of struggle that impacted my mother, and at times, myself, ensuring that my children have a brighter future. My mission is to be a voice for those who may not have one and to end the generational challenges that have persisted in my family.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My entry into the Aviation and Aerospace industry was an unexpected journey guided by God. I initially had little knowledge of the field, but was fortunate to be approached by my current employer after they discovered my resume on indeed.
Similarly, my recent venture into entrepreneurship was made possible through a connection I received on Linkedin. I now operate an online retail store specializing in organic and plant-based products.
What I am most proud of is my willingness to embrace risks in both my life and career. I have been stepping out in faith, and I am grateful to see positive outcomes from these efforts.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One important lesson I had to unlearn and relearn is that success fundamentally stems from a shift in mindset. I believe people tend to over complicate the concept of success and the challenges of life. It is entirely possible to rise above one’s environment and lead a fulfilling life, happy life. This begins with self-reflection and taking accountability for one’s role in various circumstances.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I have read several books that have had a significant impact on my mindset. These include “The Dream Giver” by Bruce Wilkinson, “Go for No” by Andrea Waltz and Richard Fenton, “Choices” by Jack Graham and “Apologies That Never Came” by Pierre A. Jeanty.
