Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daivion Crawford. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Daivion thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of my projects that really stick out to me the most is my most recent release Lovesick. Lovesick is valuable in a different way because that’s my first official album everything was recorded and engineered by me and I actually sat back and sequenced each and every song at least 4 times . During the making a lot of traumatic events were going on in my personal life, I woke up spiritually, mentally, and physically. I was fed up with the fake love and bad vibes so I just used my platform as an outlet of expression of the things that I was going through and some people can relate to my story. Feel like I was using the boy from the porch perspective but it wasn’t just any random perspective you know what I mean? Some songs from the album are from the start of the year some current as released ! It took me such a long time to construct the project personally had people help me decide on the track list. We probably scrapped the project three times , due to my indecisiveness. Perfection and quality is key I always want to make sure my listeners and consumers get the best experience with anything i’m correlated with.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My first time I actually realized I was born with talent was when i discovered my love for street wear and music. In the house I grew up in music and an sense in fashion were two things that I was always surrounded by so I kind of picked up on some of the things I seen in my everyday life as a young boy. At 15 I started dabbing into making my own ideas come to life. I started recording music and making clothes at this age but the music i was recording was more so parody rap so it wasn’t as serious as I am today. Clothes was the first love I used to be that kid on Nike ID during class making customs just for the fun of it. My current occupations as an creative I record other artists as an engineer , graphic arts, running my own clothing line (Purgatory Laboratory). We provide hype streetwear garments and accessories for the people of all size shape and color. Our mission is to remind people that it’s always going to be a time where you have to take losses and rebuild yourself to find that purity in your life sometimes and it’s okay to struggle, seeing that purgatory logo can kind of give the customers some relief to people feel like their apart of an collective of people who are talented individuals .My branding as an creative in the world is expanding from city to city from the garments to the tunes i’m creating i’d say that’s something that i’m truly proud of myself about right now just knowing the feeling that my work is actually expanding to other people’s perspectives and ears and actually getting recognition that I deserve. What you put in comes right back around in the universe work hard play hard !
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Simple. Supporting each other not just reposting and tagging each other on instagram actually connecting with people in real life. Establishing bridges, connecting with each other’s music. Each and every creative where i’m from is extremely talented the city it only takes an connection support from word and those collaborations of worlds colliding together. Sometimes people want to see two artists in the same room or video. More of that can elevate us on a bigger scale if we all vibrate on the same frequency

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My ultimate goal in the things I perform in is to remind people that having your own way and meaning of life. Doing what makes you happy and finding your true purpose in life is my saying of “happiness” because you aren’t happy unless you wake up and do what your destined to do everyday. Everything is over saturated nowadays. It crucifies having your own opinion. I’m just here to remind folks that being your true self is the master form of purity
