Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daisy Quijano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Daisy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
To summarize of course my biggest inspirations came from my partner and close friends. Whom I am eternally grateful for to have in my life. As cheesy as this may sound, my biggest hero or inspiration would be the little girl inside me fighting for her dreams.
As I did some self reflection, as I got older, I never realized how much I shut out my passions due to a lot of traumas. So I treat myself now as the little girl I once was with so much love and compassion because she inspires me to keep going every day since I am fighting for her. She didn’t have a voice growing up. But now she can express herself as she pleases!
Daisy , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always had a creative bone. Through the years, I’ve understood turning my passion into a business was not going to be easy. My most proud accomplishment is finding the confidence to establish my passion into a career. It’s very scary when you leave your comfort zone but it’s the most liberating when you see what comes out of it. I’ve had the privilege to work with many talented artists and models between videography, creative directing and make up services just to allow my creative being out and to be a part of someone else’s vision is an amazing feeling.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
For most of my working life, I worked solely under retail and at some point I felt like I was wasting my life because retail is not where I wanted to be. Once I left I establish a part-time job to help fund my career buying proper videography equipment, buying more make up start going to networking events to make my name known. For years, I never had a day to myself I would work a lot at my part-time job and at my creative hustles of my videography, or make up to eventually let go, and to devote my love into my passions. A lot of sacrifices were made in this moment I couldn’t hang out with friends or family didn’t schedule self time, but I also had to learn to not neglect myself when it comes to being unstoppable. Because, without my self, there would be no dreams to accomplish. If you were to tell me three years ago that the version of who I am today and all the things I have accomplished, I would not believe you to finally travel with talented metal musicians for either make up or BTS all kinds of videography services. It’s almost bittersweet because I did lose friendships along the way because once you do prioritize yourself, you see who your friends are.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I’ve learned when it comes to strategy is to think delusionally there were times where I would do the basics to reach out to clients through social media. Some people would do maybe 5 to 10 bands or clothing lines for videography services or even make up services I would at least reach out to 200 a day my goal was to at least reach 800 a week. It’s best to do it as much as you can because not everyone is going to even open the message let alone probably read it. But always think of yourself in abundance. Delusionally overwhelm yourself with confidence is how I went about it. Eventually, I morphed into it.
